‘You’ve got me mixed up’ says RTE Fair City star as he calls out Ireland AM hosts after their major blunder on air

IRELAND AM host Tommy Bowe made a major blunder while interviewing a guest this week.

Gerard Jordan, who’s best known for his role as Steo Nash in the hit soap, sat down with Tommy and Karen Koster on Thursday morning.

However, the hosts had their wires crossed and mixed up some of the the Dubliner’s credentials with an English actor with the same name.

When introducing Gerard to viewers, Karen mentioned some shows that she thought he had acted in.

She said: “He has overcome the carnage of Carrigstown, faced down the White Walkers in Game of Thrones and survived the criminal underworld of Blue Lights…”

During their chat, Tommy also spoke about the hit series saying: “Obviously you’re involved in Fair City, Derry Girls, Game of Thrones.”

The 34-year-old pulled up the presenters on the incorrect information saying: “I wasn’t on Derry Girls or Game of Thrones. I think you’re getting me mixed up there with another Gerard Jordan.”

Karen and Tommy both looked surprised as Karen asked: “You have another one. Is there another one?”

The dad-of-eight replied: “Yeah there’s another one, yeah. I wasn’t on Game of Thrones or Derry Girl, but I was just on Fair City.”

Tommy attempted to save himself saying: “I was thinking you’ve got the hair. I was thinking you’ve just been growing the beard.

“This is it. I mean, after eight kids, you should look disheveled, you should be on Game of Thrones as well.”

Gerard didn’t look too offended by the mix up and replied: “You know, if Game of Thrones are doing a remake, give me a shout.”

The actor met his partner Jo 11 years ago and the pair both shared a dream of having a big family.

Gerard told The Irish Independent: “I have always loved the idea of a full, lively house. The kind of place where there is always laughing or someone needing a snack or needing something.”

FAMILY MAN

The actor became a dad at just 25-years-old and said while it seems “young”, he felt “very mature” and knew it was something himself and Jo both wanted.

The pair now have eight children; Jasper, 10, Hugo, nine, River, seven, Sage, five, Saint, three, Zen, two, Enzo, one, and Halo, who is just 12 weeks old.

The family-of-ten lives in the Liberties, Dublin.

As well as Gerard’s glitzy showbiz job, he works for a company that sells credit card terminals.

He explained: “I’m not back [in Fair City] until August so it’s a big gap. You have to have something else going on because otherwise you would run out of money very quickly with eight kids.”

Gerard spoke about how himself and his partner make sure to budget “perfectly” for their big family by forward planning.

He said: “There’s a lot of mouths to feed. There’s a lot of outgoings with kids… with certain trips with school, and things that bubble up. So you have to have an ‘emergency fund’ packed away and ready to go.”
