“Your filthy hair made me hundreds of millions of dollars”: Tom Cruise Trashing Robert Pattinson for His Idea to Go Full Bald Will Never Not Be Funny

Having great hair is almost a prerequisite for celebrities in Hollywood. However, when Robert Pattinson admitted he didn’t care too much about his crowning glory, it became a useful joke in a promotional clip for the MTV Movie Awards.

Tom Cruise, on the other hand, revived his Tropic Thunder role in the said clip and lampooned the Twilight actor, who rose to fame for his iconic appearance as the vampire Edward Cullen—whose hair was an important part of his overall appeal.

In 2010, Tom Cruise and Robert Pattinson teamed up for a hilarious spoof video where they both made fun of their iconic movie roles. In the video shared below, the Tropic Thunder star once again got into his Les Grossman alter-ego, the bald and ill-tempered studio executive in Ben Stiller’s film.

Pattinson began his statement with the novel idea of overhauling his overall looks. “I’m thinking about cleaning myself up a little bit. Maybe get a suit, have a shave. Maybe wash my hair.” A sarcastic yet annoyed Cruise answered in the most foul-mouthed Les Grossman fashion:

I love it so much I’m gonna fly Vidal f—king Sassoon here to personally give you a Brazilian blowout. And when he’s done, I’ll give you the number of a good plumber because you just flushed your f—king career down the toilet! Your filthy hair made you a star. Your filthy hair made me hundreds of millions of dollars, and sent my fat-a** kid to space camp four times.

When prompted to reply what kind of shampoo he needs to wash his hair off, Pattinson said, “Dirt.” They shared a fist bump as an acknowledgment that they understood each other.

It was a good reminder of the early years of their careers, especially for Pattinson, who was overwhelmed by his soaring fame due to his Twilight films. In a surprising revelation, he said that he rarely washes his mane as he doesn’t have a sense of personal hygiene. He would go for weeks without cleaning up.

Now older and wiser, Pattinson has discovered the beauty of washing off the grime and dirt from his hair.

Why was Tom Cruise in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder?

Fans were certainly surprised to see Cruise play a character so different from his usual movie roles. Les Grossman was originally not part of the script, but the actor suggested it would do better with a studio executive who would be the antagonist. From there, the entire script was revised with Cruise fully embodying the role.

Looking back, it made the movie so much better, as well as proved Cruise’s acting range, so it was nice to see him play the character again on screen, even if it was only for a spoof.
