Why has Addison not spoken Yet? – Edudzi Tameklo questions silence over national security raid

Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Edudzi Tameklo, has raised concerns over the ongoing public discourse surrounding the National Security raid at the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints, Tameklo questioned why discussions are being driven by secondhand accounts rather than direct statements from the individuals involved.

“Why has Addison not spoken yet?” he asked on March 22, emphasizing that the former governor’s silence has left room for speculation.

“The person whose house was raided has not spoken, and nobody has heard from the person. But we are relying on a version of the story from someone who was not there. Where is the fairness in that?” he further argued.

Tameklo believes this approach undermines fairness and transparency, as the primary party involved remains unheard.

His statement is premised on comments made by Alexander Afenyo-Markin who raised serious concerns over the armed invasion of former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison’s home, questioning who authorized such a violent raid.

“Who gave the order for this? Why was Dr. Addison’s home invaded at dawn by armed men? Ghana is a democracy, not a jungle!” Afenyo-Markin thundered during a press briefing.

He detailed how the attackers seized money and valuables from the home. “The governor’s wife’s earrings and necklaces are gone! Who takes responsibility for this theft?” he fumed.

More disturbingly, the security operatives allegedly dismantled the CCTV system in Dr. Addison’s office.

“If they were acting within the law, why take away the CCTV monitor? What were they trying to hide?” he questioned.

Afenyo-Markin also revealed that Okete Afria Mensa was arrested in a separate incident but later released. “Even if there was a need for an arrest, must it be done in a Rambo-style attack? Where is the human face of law enforcement?” he asked.

He warned against political excesses, reminding the ruling party that power is transient. “Today, they have the presidency and control 87 seats. But have they forgotten how power shifts? We had 169 seats not long ago! The tables can turn!”
