Dill Bits were added with Fortnite Season 6, Chapter 2 and are a type of in-game currency. In short, Dill Bits can be used to purchase stronger weapons mid-battle once collected, but unfortunately only last the duration of the match – which means they expire past this point.
Unlike Dill Bits, the Black Market in Fortnite represents certain in-game landmarks which offer players a selection of weapons, boons and consumables. These items can be directly purchased with Gold Bars or Dill Bits.

How to Get Dill Bits in Fortnite
To get Dill Bits in Fortnite, players must raid vaults present within the Battle Royale Island, or by boarding a specific train that houses 2 Dill Bits in its singular vault. The train is known to circle around the map periodically, so it is quite hard to miss it.
The Dill Bits can be found in the following locations:
- Crime City
- Seaport City
- Masked Meadows
- Lonewolf Lair
However, to open up a vault, players will require some Thermite. Thermite is a commonly dropped item present within chests and floor loot, and should be placed on a vault’s door to destroy it over time.
Once the charges have been set, it is also possible to attack the thermite in order to accelerate the process. A meter should indicate your progression, which fills to 100% when the vault door is ready to be knocked down.
Once the door is open, head inside and grab any loot – including the Dill Bits.
Fortnite Black Market Locations
There are a total of 3 Black Markets to be found in Fortnite. They are located in the following locations within the in-game map:
- Crime City: Head on over toward the dual gates that lead into a rock face – simply walk through either path to go behind the structure.
- Magic Mosses: Head inside the stairs within the pagoda.
- Masked Meadows: Simply head inside the garage, and down the stairs.

Once unlocked, Black Markets are surprisingly easy to navigate and use. Simply head on over to the items displayed within the various glass cases, and purchase them directly using Gold bars or Dill. Depending on the rarity of the item, this can end up costing a lot more money than usual.
Dill Bits, in particular, are used to purchase the more exotic weapons and are only usable for the match they are purchased in.
