SCOTLAND is set to be hit by the final blast of winter next week with heavy snow on the way.
It comes after parts of the country were hit by a big freeze last week, with a smattering of flurries and widespread frost.

And it’s far from over as forecasters warn of another wintry blast later this month.
Temperatures are expected to plummet below freezing in some areas next week.
According to WXCharts, heavy snow is set to hit the west coast of the country.
And it is set to continue to spread down to the Central Belt and eastwards.
The forecaster predicts that the heavy flurries will hit at midnight on Thursday, March 27.
Around 6cm is predicted to fall in the Highlands.
As weather fronts continue to push in, the weather map shows patches of snowfall sweeping in until around 6pm on March 29.
The mercury is set to drop to around -3C in some areas at around this time.
The Met Office has not stated whether there will be some snow during this time.
But their long range forecast from Friday, March 21 to Sunday, March 30 that “wetter weather” is likely, along with “unsettled conditions”.
The forecast read: “Still fine for many at the start of this period but by Friday and into the weekend, there is an increasing likelihood that rain or showers will start to arrive from the south or west.
“Wetter weather will probably spread to all areas, at least for a time and could be accompanied by strong winds at times.
“Into the following week, unsettled conditions will probably continue across many parts of the UK.
“Some heavy rain or showers are possible at times, these most likely across southern parts of the country.
“Temperatures are likely to be widely above average at the start of this period before probably falling back and then fluctuating around average for the remainder of the period.”
Last week, parts of Scotland woke up to fresh snow flurries as temperatures continue to plummet.
Locals near the Cairngorms National Park, in the Highlands, were hit by overnight flurries.
Gritters were out and about clearing the roads this morning, with some residents enjoying the weather while out walking.
Sleet and snow was also falling at Cheltenham ahead of the races.
