As winter officially arrives, it’s understandably the southern part of South Africa that is in line for the regular arrival of seasonal cold fronts and inclement weather, and Cape Town is predicted to be on the receiving end of a strong cold front from this Friday.
From Thursday, temperatures will begin to drop, while from Friday to Monday there is expected to be heavy cloud cover and plenty of persistent rainfall.
Snowfall is possible for the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal as well as Lesotho and Namibia from next weekend.
At this stage the snowfall is indicated to be anything from very light to quite heavy (Lesotho), but is not expected to be very low-level in the western part of South Africa.
Cape Town will receive the worst of the weather in SA from the end of this week
