We remain unwavering in ensuring Ken Ofori Atta faces the law—OSP responds to suit

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has stated that if Ken Ofori Atta fails to make himself available for investigation, they will be left with no option but to re-enter his name on the wanted list.

The OSP further indicated that it will cause issuance of an Interpol Red Notice and also cause the initiation of extradition proceedings in any jurisdiction he finds himself if he does not make himself available on June 2, 2025 as he has promised.

This comes after reports indicated that the former finance minister has sued the OSP for declaring him a fugitive.

A statement from the OSP indicated that it remains unwavering in ensuring that Mr Ken Ofori Atta faces the law.

Background

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has taken legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after being declared wanted.

In his lawsuit, Ofori-Atta is seeking a court injunction to prevent the OSP from reissuing the declaration, describing it as baseless and unjustified. He argues that the move has severely damaged his reputation and personal life.

The legal battle stems from the OSP’s announcement earlier this year, labeling him a fugitive over alleged corruption and financial misconduct—claims he has repeatedly denied. He maintains that he has cooperated with the investigation through his legal representatives.

Ofori-Atta is now asking the court to bar the OSP from making further public declarations against him until the legal process is fully resolved.
