According to a viral video from November 2024, right ahead of his fight with Jake Paul, Tyson came across a fan whom he robbed decades ago.
Ahead of entering the boxing ring, Mike Tyson’s childhood was rooted in crime, leading him to rob an eight-year-old kid, during his teenage years. And surprisingly, upon returning to his old neighborhood, Tyson had a rather heartfelt encounter with the person from his troubled past, whom he had mugged.

Mike Tyson might have knocked out legends in the ring, but nothing could have prepared him for the emotional uppercut he received when he met a fan he had once robbed. Yep, you read that right! The former heavyweight champion, who had a history of crime, during his childhood years, ran into a man he mugged during his teenage years.
According to a video shared by @XcellentMMA, Mike Tyson returned to his childhood neighborhood in Brownsville, ahead of his highly anticipated fight with Jake Paul. Reflecting on how he survived the tough streets of Brooklyn as a kid, the boxing superstar even reflected on being arrested nearly 40 times before he even hit his teenage years.
That’s when, while reminiscing about his past, Mike Tyson was hit with a plot twist straight out of a Hollywood movie. A man who happened to be his fan approached him for a picture and casually dropped the biggest bombshell ever. He told Tyson about getting robbed by him at the age of 8.
The man said,
You robbed me when I was 8 years old. On Amboy and Pitkin.
Tyson in disbelief,
I robbed you? Now he’s blaming me for robbing him. N**** got robbed.
Although Mike Tyson was clearly caught off guard, the man wasn’t making it up. He even gave specific details as to where he was mugged by Tyson before he turned his life around and became a global legend. Perhaps, after getting facts and details, it started to click and Tyson was spotted in an awkward realization shaking his head and laughing.

Therefore, dropping some more hints for Mike Tyson to pick up on, while he was clearly trying to avoid the embarrassing situation, the man tried helping the boxing legend remember the incident. Thankfully, Tyson eventually recalled the incident and apologized for his past mistakes.

He robbed me when I was a kid, bro. By the Woolworth’s store. You remember Woolworth’s?
Tyson noted,
We took pictures in there… I’m so sorry.
The man responded,
No, don’t worry about it.
