Virgin River is headed back to Netflix for season 7 and details are slowly being revealed about what fans can expect to see happen to the characters!
‘Virgin River’ Season 7 Is in Production
It was first announced in October 2024 that Virgin River was renewed for season 7. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith confirmed that season 7 would pick up right where season 6 left off with Jack and Mel’s wedding.
“I think we’ve only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is exciting,” he said, per Tudum.
The outlet reported that the upcoming season will “explore the honeymoon phase for them as they’re building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.”
Patrick also confirmed that Mel and Jack’s relationship is rock-solid and they will not let anything come between them.
“I can’t imagine creating a scenario where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up,” he explained. “It forces you to dig a little bit deeper into, well, what other issues can they have in their relationship? Especially when you want to keep it through the romance lens. I think Alex and Martin play all of those [moments so well], it’s just resting on emotional stakes as opposed to ‘will they, won’t they.’ ”
There Will Be Some New Faces in Season 7
There will be some new characters joining the cast for season 7 of Virgin River.
Cody Kearsley “will play the tough, athletic Clay,” according to Tudum.
Clay is described as “the kind of guy who gets noticed when he enters a room.”
“Clay has experience working the rodeo circuit,” per the outlet. “He grew up in foster care with his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. He’s been looking for her ever since.”
Sara Canning will be joining the cast as “ex-cop Victoria, who was shot in the line of duty and now works for the state medical board as an investigator.”
“Victoria comes to Virgin River to look into Doc’s practice but runs into a friend she wouldn’t mind catching up with … or maybe even pursuing something more,” Tudum reported.
Additionally, it was revealed that Mark Ghanimé, who played Cameron Hayek, will not be returning as a series regular.
“Cameron will always be part of our world, and I would love to see his character come back again,” Patrick told Deadline in December 2024. “He unfortunately won’t be a series regular in Season 7, but I love Mark, and I love the character, so when opportunity presents itself, I’d love to have him back.”
He further spoke about Mark’s exit with TVLine that same month.
“I love Mark, who plays Cameron, and I love the character of Cameron,” he told the outlet. “He will always be a part of the world, and I would love to see his character back, but he won’t be a series regular in Season 7, unfortunately.”
Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge Teased Season 7 of ‘Virgin River’
Martin Henderson, who plays Jack, revealed that filming had begun on season 7 of Virgin River in a March 2025 Instagram post.
