Tragedy as body found on tracks on major ScotRail line

SCOTRAIL services were cancelled last night after a body was discovered on train tracks.

The grim find was made around 9:30pm on the line between Alloa and Stirling.

Mercy crews raced to the scene but the person could not be saved.

Services between Stirling and Alloa were axed following the fatality while an investigation has been launched.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line close to Stirling station at 9.30pm on March 12, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”

Phil Campbell, customer operations director for ScotRail, added: “ScotRail services were disrupted last night while the emergency services attended an incident on the line between Alloa and Stirling.

“Anyone who experienced delays of 30 minutes or more is entitled to compensation through our delay repay guarantee.”

Services resumed this morning.
