Sadie Sink is one of the up-and-coming names in Hollywood’s entertainment industry and she’s already lighting everything on fire. While she has been acting since seven, having kickstarted with local theater productions, the love and fame she has earned since her breakthrough with Stranger Things has only cemented her place further, and she’s only 22.
In fact, one of the biggest accomplishments of the actress might as well be accepted to be the fact that she is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now as well, considering her reported casting in the upcoming Spider-Man 4. But while that’s that, she is also being speculated to play Jean Grey in the X-Men league—though Sink had a rather cryptic response to this one.
Sadie Sink remained tight-lipped on Jean Grey casting rumors
It didn’t take long for everyone to know who Sadie Sink was after her smash hit success with Stranger Things, following which she has become a part of numerous major projects including the likes of The Whale and the Fear Street film series. Then came the news that the popular star is now also set to join the cast of Spider-Man 4, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.
However, a lot of the fans are not done with her just yet. This is because a lot of rumors have been going around as of yet, speculating the Dear Zoe actress embodying the fan-favorite Jean Grey from the X-Men in the MCU. Grey, who exercises psionic powers with vast empathic and telepathic abilities in the super-verse, has been previously played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.
These rumors made their way to the actress herself as well, during her recent interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast. When Horowitz confronted her about the rumors asking, “I’m sure people have been asking you about this,” Sink was quick to respond with an enthusiastic “Yes!” But when probed further about it, the actress simply teased:
I mean, this is news to me! [Laughs] This is news to me.
When Horowitz followed by asking if she had never met or talked to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige or a Marvel person about Grey, she said, “No, I can’t- No. I have nothing to say about this. The rumors are really cool, though. It’s an awesome rumor… It’s a great character, so that’s cool to read.”
At the same time, she also confessed that she found the prospective long-time commitment if cast as Grey, to be “super exciting” before going on to shrug and chuckle about it. While that is nothing short of a cryptic response, having The Glass Castle actress as the most powerful female mutant would be a truly intriguing choice, and her response seems to have fueled the rumors further.

Although Sadie Sink answered with subtle denial when confronted about her rumored casting as Jean Grey in a potential X-Men reboot saga, fans are still taking it as a possible yes because of all the secrecy and lying-to-strictly-keep-everything-under-wraps criteria surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe that they are already more than just used to.
Some others, in the meanwhile, are already convinced that if she does end up bagging the role, the Stranger Things alum would leave no stone unturned to bring perfection to the said role. With all of this being said, it’s unarguable that quite a lot of fans are, indeed, looking forward to Sadie Sink’s casting as Jean Grey in the MCU, even after she subtly tried to brush off all those rumors. Now the only thing that remains to be seen after all this is whether Marvel rushes to actually ring her up for the role and fulfill fans’ wishes or let this rumor die a rumor.
