The ‘S.W.A.T.’ Cast Has Teased How the Show Will End: Everything They’ve Said About the Series Finale

S.W.A.T. will officially be ending its run on CBS with a finale that’s sure to knock our socks off. Several of the show’s cast members have hinted at what’s to come in the series’ final episode.

This is the show’s third cancellation. It was previously canceled and uncanceled twice before. However, this time it appears to be final on the network, which recently announced a slew of cancellations.

“It’s heartbreaking news, primarily because it’s been such an immense pleasure working with this cast and crew to put out a show that we’ve always been proud of,” showrunner Andrew Dettmann said in a statement in March 2025 after it was revealed the show was canceled. “They are truly an extraordinary group of people who have all worked so hard and have been so dedicated for all these eight seasons, overcoming countless challenges. I can’t give them enough credit.”

The ‘S.W.A.T.’ Cast Has Teased the Season 8 Finale

Anna Enger Ritch, who portrays Officer Zoe Powell in the series, spoke out about what’s to come in season 8’s final episode in a statement to TVLine.

“I’ll say this: It will make you not want this show to end,” she told the outlet in March 2025. “You’ll want to keep watching what happens. There are so many avenues and directions to go, so many stories to tell, so many personal things. … It will leave you wanting so much more.”

Annie Ilonzeh, who plays Officer Devin Gamble, also hinted at a shocking conclusion to the show.

“You go, ‘Oh my gosh, that just happened!’ And, ‘Wait, I need more!’ We definitely don’t button anything up. We leave you guessing and very curious for more,” she said.

Additionally, Andrew said in another statement that the show will be getting the proper sendoff.

“Having learned our lesson over the last couple of years, we designed the season finale keeping in mind that it could be the series finale,” he said. “And wanting to go out on a high note either way, we’re not buttoning anything up in a manner that would put an end to 20-Squad.”

Shemar Moore Isn’t Giving Up on ‘S.W.A.T.’

While CBS has remained firm on the show’s cancellation, star Shemar Moore said that he’s banking on the chance to save the show somehow like he’s done twice before.

“The family over at S.W.A.T. — we ain’t done chasing bad guys. Helicopter chases and motorcycle chases and car chases and blowing up stuff … we ain’t done. But if you force us to be finished, we thank you. Again, nothing lasts forever, and we know that. But hey, Netflix, holler at your boy,” he said in a video posted on Instagram in March 2025.

“I say to CBS, if you’re done — I know it’s about money, optics, politics — I don’t think you’re making the right choice I’ll say that. But if you are done, I say thank you, genuinely, honestly,” he added.
