The Summer 2025 anime season is absolutely stacked with some of the most high-profile shows returning. There’s almost no room left for other new series to stand out, as they might just get swept away, not surviving the surge of all the anime releasing in July. But everyone knows this must not happen, at least in the case of The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity.
Fans have been anticipating the official anime announcement of this highly acclaimed manga for years. In fact, it was kind of obvious it would get one, knowing how big it had become. So, upon hearing the news of its release on July 5th, fans should have been excited, right? Well, they are, but there’s also a sense of fear that it might be forgotten under all the GOATed shows releasing simultaneously.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity may have it tough to stand out at first
The next season, we have bangers after bangers making their grand return with their sequels. Sakamoto Days season 2 looks all the more promising, Kaiju No. 8 hype would be hard to overlook, Dr. Stone is also coming big with its final arc, and that’s not even scratching the surface. We also got a myriad of epic rom-com series returning.

Call of the Night will again bring up the heat with Creepy Nuts doing the opening theme (Mirage), the Bunny Girl Senpai sequel is also looking quite promising by studio CloverWorks, and how can anyone forget about Marin coming back with My Dress-Up Darling season 2? It’s as if the lineup itself has farmed some aura.
Which is exactly why crawling your way up amidst this stacked anime season would be hard for any new series. At least that’s what fans would expect in the case of any random anime. But The Fragrant Flower is no ordinary one to make it clear. It is revered as one of the most highly acclaimed romances within the community.
Best written romance is almost here.

While the anxiety is understandable and the hurdle is also quite high to overcome, it may not be that big of an issue for The Fragrant Flower. Had it been any other adaptation, the chances were they would have been absolutely forgotten by the masses. But in the case of The Fragrant Flower, it’s safe to assume things will turn out for the best.
The Fragrant Flower may potentially surpass Blue Box‘s popularity

No one questions the unmatched superiority The Fragrant Flower has had right from the release of its first few chapters. Its realistic approach to the romance genre is rarely found in any anime, in general, so it makes sense why fans would be so worried about its successful adaptation.
While we know Blue Box recently got awarded as the Best Romance Anime of 2024 in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, many Blue Box fans still believe that The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity is much better. This is most likely because Blue Box formed a niche by introducing the sports element, which may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
As a huge Blue Box fan….Yes, it’s 100% better.

However, The Fragrant Flowers is a through-and-through pure romance without any sub-genre mixed in it. And still, it has some of the most wholesome and realistically comprehensible character moments that are nowhere to be found in any other series. Fingers crossed, The Fragrant Flower would really bloom with utmost dignity in the summer 2025 anime season.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity will be released on July 5 in Japan.
