The One Show pulled off air for weeks as Alex Jones and Roman Kemp ‘take time away’ from BBC sofa

THE One Show has been pulled off air for weeks amid ongoing TV schedule chaos.

The early evening magazine show is BBC One’s staple 7pm output but from this week it will cease to air as normal.

Both Alex Jones and Roman Kemp have taken a step back from their hosting roles on the show as it takes time off-air.

The One Show will be off-air for a total of four weeks in order to accommodate sporting coverage such as Wimbledon and the Euros.

Alex confirmed they would be off-air as they hosted their last show together on Friday.

Addressing The One Show viewers, she said: “We are taking a bit of a break for the next four weeks and we’ll be back on Monday, 28th July but there’s plenty to enjoy like Wimbledon and the Euros.”

The One Show typically airs all week at 7pm with Alex and Roman often in the hosting seat.

Lauren Laverne, Ronan Keating, Clara Amfo and Alex Scott are also often seen covering hosting duties.

The One Show took a similar four-week break last year to accommodate summer sporting events.

This week, Wimbledon will begin its evening coverage at 7pm on BBC One forcing The One Show to be axed as well as flagship soap EastEnders to be moved to smaller channel, BBC Two.

Despite EastEnders usually airing Monday-Thursday at 7:30pm on the main BBC channel, fans will instead see two episodes broadcast on just Monday and Tuesday on BBC Two.

It will air a back-to-back double bill this evening.

Following tonight’s Walford action, fans will have to go a whole eight days before getting their next fix of Albert Square action.

The soap won’t air again until the 9th July.
