It’s fair to say that Lies of P is one of the best Soulslike games out there. Even though it doesn’t come from FromSoftware, the game is a fantastic representation of the genre. Right after its release, Lies of P achieved critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Developer Neowiz instantly announced a DLC, but years went by without any news related to its release.
However, the wait has finally come to an end. At the Summer Games Fest 2025, the developer confirmed that the Lies of P: Overture update is finally out now. The expansion brings new weapons, enemy types, and, most crucially, boss modes. While these modes seem to be fun, all they’re missing is a simple addition that could take things to the next level: leaderboards.
Leaderboards are the missing piece in Lies of P: Overture

The Lies of P: Overture update brings two new game modes to the mix called Battle Memories and Death Marches. What’s so special about these? Well, in the Battle Memories, gamers can go ahead and challenge all the bosses they’ve battled in both Lies of P and Overture DLC. There are five difficulty levels to tackle, and bosses increase in stats the higher you go.
On the other hand, Death Marches brings a raw experience where players must choose three bosses to fight in a row. There’s no rest, and every battle will prove to be a trial fire where only the best gamers will survive. Seriously, both of these modes can keep you engaged for hundreds of hours, and the developers have done an incredible job with their design.
There’s one issue, though: we don’t have a leaderboard. It doesn’t matter how quickly you manage to take down enemies or how much damage you end up dealing; there’s no way to compare your stats with others. Sure, you could go on social media platforms and brag in front of other players about your success, but that doesn’t satisfy the itch of seeing your name in a global top 100 list.

Both Battle Memories and Death March have built-in competitive mechanics, yet there’s no official way to display your feats. Let’s hope NeoWiz can listen to the community and finally bring a leaderboard for the game modes in the upcoming updates for Lies of P. It would be a shame if we don’t see such a basic addition that amps the fun ten times.
Lies of P: Overture also brings new difficulty options

It’s not the addition of new game modes in the latest Lies of P: Overture expansion. NeoWiz has also added two new difficulty options, both for the base game and DLC called “Butterfly’s Guidance” and “Awakened Puppet.” The former makes things easier in the Soulslike, and the latter will make the experience more difficult.
That’s not all, though; the default difficulty option has also been named “Legendary Stalker.” The developers decided to introduce new difficulty options in the beloved game based on player feedback and the goal of attracting a wider audience of players who might be afraid of the challenge that Souslike games are known for.
It’s great to see that NeoWiz has made Lies of P more accessible and not an unplayable nightmare like some other titles out there. Let’s hope the developer can continue this momentum with future updates.
