The DIY window cleaning solution that ‘cuts through dust & grime’ – and only costs 99p to make

IT’S that time of year when we are all thinking about giving our homes a good spring clean.

And one home expert has shared the best way to get windows looking squeaky clean after the winter weather.

Here’s how to get windows sparkling again after the winter weather[/caption]

Gina, from the Style Curator, shared two of her best tricks to get your windows looking brand new again without getting a professional in.

She shared some of her favourite tips for cleaning outside as the warmer weather comes along.

“I’m always looking for home cleaning hacks to make life easier and this extends to outside the home too,” the home pro said.

“Because less time cleaning and more time enjoying life is always a good idea!”

Gina revealed her go-to solution to cleaning windows and it will cost just 99p to make.

To do it yourself you will need equal parts of warm water, white vinegar and 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol.

Mix the solution together and wipe onto windows before using a squeegee to clean them off.

“Mix the solution together and watch how it cuts through dust and grime,” said Gina.

“White vinegar and rubbing alcohol are excellent cleaning agents and work perfectly to create a streak-free finish.”

The easy-to-make solution is super cheap to make, and you can buy white vinegar for just £1.30 from Sainsbury’s and rubbing alcohol for £3.50.


As you only need a small amount from each the cleaner will cost just 99p to make, much cheaper than retail window cleaners.

Gina also had another cleaning tip for stubborn watermarks on windows.

She said if you have particularly stubborn stains that won’t budge, a bathroom staple will help – toothpaste.

She said: “Grab a spare toothbrush and white toothpaste.

Cleaning hacks and tips

Here are some tips to help you clean your home like a pro:

“Apply the toothpaste to the watermark and gently polish it away.”

Another cleaning whizz has shared the easy way to clean patios ready for summer.

Posting on TikTok, the savvy cleaner  got to work with a broom sweeping up any dirt and debris, leaving just the bare patio ready to be cleaned.

Once the patio was prepped, she went in the The Pink Stuff Cream Cleaner, which is squirted generously over the slabs.

The £1 buy was used with a broom, she then scrubbed away at the patio – and the dirt instantly began to lift.

Then it was time to get up any list bits of dirt using the same Pink Stuff product and a handy mop.

The results were so impressive fellow cleaning fans were amazed, with one commenting on the clip: “Looks so good!”

“Probably a lot easier than getting the jet wash out,” a second wrote.
