Spectacular flats at the perfectly-located Oval Mansions have gone on the market.

And not only do they offer lovely views over South London – but also over the iconic cricket stadium, too, thanks to the dream rooftop terrace.

Two flats have gone on the market in the 1880s building on Kennington Oval – the same road as the venue’s address and built with a curve to replicate the shape of the Oval.

On Rightmove, the cheaper of the two is a £400k one-bedroom, one-bathroom flat.

The other is a two-bedroom apartment costing £600,000.

Both of them have access to the famous terrace which overlooks the pitch.

The outdoor seating is on the east side of the building and features a tiered area on the southern corner.

Sport lovers regularly wheel out the deck chairs and perch themselves on the terrace to watch the day’s play at the Oval, which first staged Test cricket in 1880.

And residents are even allowed to invite guests to join them – although there are strict limits for big England matches.

So much so that during the Ashes, plus ones are restricted to one per flat.

Fans can often be spotted sipping champagne and enjoying slap-up breakfasts and lunches.

TV crews sometimes even rent out flats for big Test matches such as the Ashes.

Phil Tufnell even turned up at the door during the 2023 series.

Department for Transport civil servant Joe Remond has lived at Oval Mansions for two years.

He said: “We made sure we moved in a week before the last Ashes test.

“We’ve seen some great Tests up here. We saw Stuart Broad’s last wicket up here.

“It’s nice to go between the ground and the terrace… it’s a different atmosphere up here – it’s great.

Phil Tufnell came up here and filmed a bit, saying it was the best terrace in the world.

“He got us to do stuff like pretend someone had just got a wicket.

“It was crazy during the Ashes. People were getting to the terrace for 8am to secure a spot.

“One group had a massive cheese fondue, another group had a massive bowl of punch… one guy had a Magnum bottle of wine he was sharing round. It was the best atmosphere.”
