Inspiration can stem from anything, anywhere, and anytime. Especially in the case of anime where many manga creators use inspiration from different real-life aspects or get influenced by elements of other movies or series and use it in their own projects. In the case of Solo Leveling, it was seen in the most recent episode, featuring the Jeju Island raid.
As fans know, the Jeju Island raid is one of the most significant narratives in the Solo Leveling storyline. It brings a big twist to the story and a lot of things change after the arc. But what fans don’t know is that one action sequence in the Jeju Island arc was copied from the first Avengers movie and was placed so subtly that most of the Solo Leveling supporters didn’t even notice.
The scene involves Ant King(Beru) thrashing Ma Dongwook in a similar manner as Hulk did with Loki in the last battle. While it might not be officially inspired by Avengers as the action scene is quite common, it does feel a lot similar, and anime fans were quite happy to notice the resemblance.
The similarity between Solo Leveling and Avengers
The recent Solo Leveling episode 11 was one of the most exciting episodes in the entire series as it finally portrayed the battle between the S-Rank hunters and the Ant King. As the hunters try their best to subdue the Ant King, his incredible powers are totally out of control and he almost kills every Korean S-Rank hunter involved in the Jeju Island raid.
As he is thrashing through the hunters, he is stopped by Ma Dongwook, the guild master of the Fame Guild who was just healed by Ma Byung-Gyu. While Ma Dongwook tries his best to take the enemy down, the Ant King grabs him by his foot, picks him up, and starts thrashing him on either side of the ground just like Hulk did with Loki in the first Avengers movie.
It is an iconic Hulk move as he later uses the same move on Thor in Thor: Ragnarok which came out in 2017. The scene is quite iconic and there have been multiple renditions of it, and now the anime world has got one of their own. It might not be the best moment from the latest Solo Leveling episode, but it still feels influenced.

As mentioned above, although the action sequence is quite common, it is mostly used by Hulk during his fights and it also fits perfectly with his personality. Thus, seeing the Ant King use the same move in the Solo Leveling anime series, and that too on someone as big and gigantic as Ma Dongwook feels a little enticing.
Thus, when the fans first noticed it, they immediately went on social media to discuss this and express their opinion about the commonality between Solo Leveling and Avengers.
While some fans made funny memes about it, others discussed the action sequence and pointed out how it only fits for someone as big as the Hulk.

Irrespective of the similarity, it is safe to say that the Solo Leveling episode was one of the best episodes of season 2 as it gave a chance to other hunters to showcase their capabilities. And now the upcoming episode will feature a battle between Sung Jinwoo and the Ant King which will be even more thrilling.
