Scot missing in Italy for nearly a week as family issue desperate plea

A SCOT has been missing in Italy for nearly a week as his family issue a desperate plea.

Robert Cadger, otherwise known as Bob, was last seen on Monday, March 10, after a visit to Pompeii during a lads’ trip to Naples.

The 47-year-old labourer from Menstrie, Clackmannanshire, had jetted off with two mates to watch SSC Napoli take on Fiorentina at the weekend but failed to return home as planned on Tuesday.

He is described as having a slim build, approximately 5ft 8 in and is thought to be wearing a yellow Aberdeen FC jacket and jeans.

The dad-of-one is without a phone or bank card.

Robert’s younger brother Ewan Cadger told The Scottish Sun: “This is extremely out of character for Robert. He’s very old school, keeps to himself, and doesn’t use social media but he would never just vanish without a word.

“He’s really close to his 10-year-old daughter and would always stay in touch with her, even when he’s away. For him to drop off the radar like this is really worrying.”

His disappearance came just days before Napoli was rocked by its biggest earthquake in four decades.

Ewan, 43, said: “This has complicated things more as the Italian authorities are working to sort that. We just want to know he’s safe. If Robert is out there, we’re asking him to contact anyone just to let us know he’s okay. We’re all so worried about him.”

The family is urging anyone with information about Robert’s whereabouts to come forward.

Ewan continued: “We’re holding onto hope, but as time goes on, it’s becoming more and more worrying. If anyone has seen Robert or knows anything about where he might be, please get in touch.”

A foreign office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man missing in Italy and are in contact with the local authorities.”

The Napoli police have also been contacted for comment.
