Rulani Mokwena expresses interest in returning to Orlando Pirates

Former Wydad Athletic Club coach Rulani Mokwena has expressed interest in returning to Orlando Pirates.

Back in the country after being sacked by Wydad, Mokwena has been heavily linked with the vacant position at Bucs.

Speaking on SuperSport TV’s Soccer Africa, Mokwena said he would, of course, consider joining Pirates.

The 38-year-old mentor said there are still people he’s fond of at Pirates, describing the club as a big institution.

Mokwena had a short stint as Pirates coach following the abrupt departure of Micho Sredojevic in August 2019.

At the time, he took charge of 14 competitive matches, winning four, drawing five and losing five.

Mokwena was replaced by Josef Zinnbauer in December 2019 before moving to Chippa United.

He later returned to Mamelodi Sundowns as an assistant but soon became their co-coach and later their head coach.

His success with the Brazilians is well-documented, but he’s now available to any team that requires his services.

“Of course, I would. I would consider it. It’s a big club and has people close to my heart, a man I am very fond of in Dr [Irvin] Khoza and he will always have a special place in my heart,” Mokwena said

“I have learned from the three best football leaders on the continent. Dr Khoza is no.1. Patrice Motsepe, the things he taught me at Mamelodi Sundowns are unbelievable, and the third is Hicham Ait Menna. I enjoyed working with the president of Wydad,” he added.

WOULD YOU WELCOME HIM AT BUCS?
