Roman Reigns Started Asking Fans For Instructions in the Worst Match of His Pro Wrestling Career

Roman Reigns has emerged as one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time. He has taken forward the rich lineage of his ancestors, the Anoa’i family, and achieved impressive heights much like many members of his family, like Yokozuna, Rikishi, the Wild Samoans, and most notably, The Rock.

In his long and storied WWE career, Roman Reigns has competed on the biggest stages all over the world. From main-eventing WrestleMania a record ten times to winning countless championships and big matches in various countries, Reigns has accomplished it all.

However, he had humble beginnings when he started out in the business. Despite coming from one of the most known families in the wrestling world, Reigns had his fair share of bad matches. In fact, the story behind his worst match in pro wrestling is an intriguing tale to know.

Following the end of his aspirations to play in the NFL, Roman Reigns decided to follow in the footsteps of many of his family members and become a professional wrestler. However, years before he wrestled in front of sell-out stadiums and arenas for WWE, Reigns competed with a much smaller audience in attendance.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Roman Reigns revealed that the smallest crowd he wrestled in front of was only two people. The match took place in a used parking lot and he called it the worst experience of his wrestling career.

Moreover, the match got so bad for The OTC that he had to ask the two fans in attendance how to put up the match, and which moves to perform in order to put up an impressive performance for them.

Oh gosh. Well, it could have been anywhere. We did it in a parking lot, a used car parking lot, or it could have been in a fairground. The lightest show I’ve ever done was two people, just two people. It got so bad that I was asking people for requests. Like ‘What do you want to see?’, ‘Do you want me to bodyslam him?’. It’s been bad but we’re in a really, really good place right now.

While the experience was not a pleasant one, it helped Roman Reigns get a start on performing for the audience. This led to his debut in WWE in 2012 as part of The Shield. In the years that followed, he carved out a remarkable singles career and has now become one of the biggest attractions for the global juggernaut of wrestling.

Roman Reigns, who still wrestles while taking chemotherapy for his cancer treatment, has not been seen on WWE television programming since the 2025 Royal Rumble PLE. Following his elimination from the name-sake match, he was attacked by his longtime rival, Seth Rollins, and was announced to be out of action indefinitely.

The wait to see The Tribal Chief back finally came to an end on the March 10th, 2025, edition of Monday Night RAW. Roman Reigns came back at the end of the Steel Cage match between Seth Rollins and CM Punk and laid a beatdown on both WWE superstars.

The OTC is set to return to SmackDown this week, which will take place in Bologna, Italy. So it will be interesting to see him back on the road to WrestleMania 41 and find his spot for The Show of Shows taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, this year.
