Resident Evil Requiem Is Gunning for RE7’s Crown and It Might Actually Take It

After several years of dominance in the franchise, it seems that Resident Evil 7 is finally getting a worthy competitor – Resident Evil Requiem. It is an upcoming title from Capcom that promises to bring a lot of horror, which the fans have been craving for. Since 2017, RE7 has held the top position as it has everything the players hoped for. Terrifying sequences, witty dialogues, and combat are just a few of those things that made the game memorable for the fans.

From what it seems, the top position is about to get challenged by Resident Evil Requiem, as promised by the game’s director. Not to hype up anything, but even they think that in comparison with RE7 and Revelations, fans will love Requiem more.

Resident Evil Requiem might be the best RE game ever

Ever since it was revealed that Koshi Nakanishi was going to direct Requiem, fans began to hope that a new banger was coming. Nakanishi has previously developed some of the fan-favorite titles like Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, and one of the most popular, Resident Evil 7.

He is considered one of Capcom’s greatest assets, especially since he is responsible for reviving the franchise with RE7. In a video recently uploaded by Biohazard (Resident Evil in Japanese), Nakanishi talks about Resident Evil Requiem by saying a few things in Japanese. When translated, here’s what he meant to say:

As compared to RE7 and Revelations, I think this (Requiem) might be the title that people will be most pleased with.

This can be rather true because recently, a bunch of YouTubers were called to check out the demo gameplay of Resident Evil Requiem.

Their terrifying faces say it all, right? A bunch of popular YouTubers can be found in the reaction video, including Suzi (TheSphereHunter). She is well-known for her content creation on the Resident Evil games.

I think it’s time we move forward from RE7 and look ahead to what lies in the future – a potential new crown holder in the series, Resident Evil Requiem.

Things we know about Resident Evil Requiem so far

Grace Ashcroft | Credits: Capcom

Requiem takes place in Raccoon City, which was overrun by zombies in 1998. It has nothing left but ruins after the government sterilized it using missiles. You will be playing the role of Grace Ashcroft, the character who was heavily rumored since the game was under development. In his game, her mother is brutally murdered in one of the hotels in Raccoon City.

As an intelligence analyst for the FBI, you will reach Raccoon City to uncover the mystery behind Grace’s mother. Grace Ashcroft is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, whom we saw 22 years ago during the events of Resident Evil Outbreak (2003).

One of the much-anticipated features of this game includes the ability to switch between first and third-person freely. That being said, you can experience the horror in a PoV you love the most. Apart from this, there are dozens of puzzles, challenges, and spine-chilling combat sequences in this game that you can’t afford to miss.

Quite literally, the hype for Resident Evil Requiem is off the roof. If this game flops, you can quit the genre of survival horror forever.
