According to SoccerLaduma, Orlando Pirates’ forgotten man Monnapule Saleng has reportedly signed a pre-contract with bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
However, neither of the three parties have confirmed the rumours, meaning the jury is still as to where AmaKhosi will poach the 27-year-old, who hasn’t featured in the league since late November.
Pirates get their man
Orlando Pirates have reportedly put pen to paper with Marumo Gallants midfielder Masindi Nemtajela, who is expected to arrive on July 1.
“Orlando Pirates have beaten Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of midfielder Masindi Nemtajela,” said The Citizen. “Nemtajela is said to be seen by Pirates as a replacement for Miguel Timm, who is set to leave at the end of this season.”
Current golden boy Fiston Mayele is another player both clubs have their eye on. The CAF Champions League winner has had Kaizer Chiefs vying for his services since last offseason, while Orlando Pirates made contact after the Pyramids strikers’ brace against them in the Champions League semi-finals.
“There has been contact [between Pirates and Mayele], and although nothing is concrete at this stage, there is a possibility,” a source reveled.
“Mayele’s camp is testing the waters and trying to see if Pirates are willing to make a concrete move to the PSL.”
“Given the current situation, both in terms of Orlando Pirates’ need for a proven striker and Mayele’s availability, this could be a very real transfer possibility.”
“It’s no secret that Pirates are in the market for a reliable goal-scorer, and after what Mayele did to them on the continental stage, it’s clear he could be that guy.”
