Happy Holi Day! The Hindu festival of colors takes place today and people with South Asian heritage celebrated with colorful powder, festive music, and traditional sweet foods. It’s a day to celebrate spring and the triumph of good over evil, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s daughter Malti Marie joined in on the festivities in a cute way.
The Citadel star’s 3-year-old, who she shares with husband Nick Jonas, honored her heritage with a special treat: rainbow puri!
“Happy holi from MM,” Chopra Jonas wrote on her Instagram story today. She shared a picture of her daughter holding up the rainbow-colored treat over her face. You can just see her eye looking at her mom through a hole in the bread. She has a little gold bracelet on her wrist and a bib around her neck as she enjoys the yummy food, and she couldn’t be cuter.
According to the My Vegetarian Roots blog by Hetal Desai, rainbow puri is a “puffed up deep fried multi color bread” that is filled with veggies like beetroots, spinach, and avocado and nutritious seeds like flaxseeds and sesame seeds, making it both a fun-looking treat and a healthy one, too!
The Love Again star celebrated Holi while at work. She shared a picture of her on set for a movie, with three stripes of colored powder on her face.
“It’s a working Holi for us 🎬❤️,” she captioned the post. “Here’s wishing everyone celebrating a very Happy Holi full of laughter and togetherness with your loved ones.”
Last year, Chopra Jonas and her family celebrated the holiday in India, where the trio dressed in traditional white outfits (complete with teeny white Crocs for Malti!) for the event that ended up covered in colored powder during the festival.
Whether they are celebrating big in India or casually at home, it’s so cool to see how Chopra Jonas is ensuring her daughter learns about her culture no matter what.
