Princess Charlotte might have been dethroned as the most stylish celebrity child earlier this year, but that doesn’t mean she’s not in the know when it comes to all the trends. Sure, she probably (most definitely) has a team of royal stylists who are considering every last detail when it comes to her outfits for official occasions, but the 9-year-old also has her own fashion sense. And it’s totally in.
Prince William recently visited Estonia and was gifted a friendship bracelet while visiting The Freedom School, per InStyle. And while the Prince of Wales was undoubtedly excited and grateful, he was also realistic.
“My daughter will try and probably poach it off me later,” William said in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter). “She loves these friendship bracelets.”
And how could she not? They are so cute, fun, and — again, so in. Especially for a certified Swiftie like Princess Charlotte. In case you missed the selfie that broke the internet, Princess Charlotte got to meet Taylor Swift backstage at her London Eras Tour concert alongside her dad and her brother Prince George, 11.
It was clear from everyone’s outfits that Princess Charlotte was the only one who got the memo that attendees were supposed to wear something that corresponded with the vibe of one of Swift’s albums. Sure, it was technically unofficial, but c’mon.
Princess Charlotte wrote a white and yellow Fearless-coded sequin dress that aligned with the main colors Swift was wearing when singing songs from that album. We can’t see her wrists in the photo, but we have no doubt that the young royal was also wearing some friendship bracelets. Swift and her Eras Tour is widely credited with the rise in popularity of the accessory.
She has even gotten her dad involved in the friendship bracelet frenzy — gifting him one that says “Papa.”
“This is a relic, if you like, from a Taylor Swift concert that my daughter decided that she wanted to create a bracelet for,” Prince William said of the accessory, per Express. “She gave it to me when I came away. So I promised to wear it and try not to lose while I was out here.”
As if getting the future monarch to wear the accessory wasn’t enough, the third in line to the throne also somehow convinced the royal family to let her wear a friendship bracelet during their annual Christmas Day walk. She is serious about these ultra-fun, ultra-trendy pieces, so we have no doubt Prince William was serious when he said a “poaching” could happen.
