Prince William Cracks Joke About Going Bald While Greeting Crowd: ‘I Wish I Had Hair Like That’

Prince William made a cheeky comment about his hair while visiting the West Midlands in England.

In a video posted by an X user of William’s Tuesday, March 11, visit, the Prince of Wales was seen greeting people and posing for pictures. He shook hands with several people before going up to a woman with fiery red hair.

He first shook her hand before making a comment about her hair.

“Look at your hair! It’s fantastic,” William told the woman. “I wish I had hair like that. Amazing.”

He smiled at something the woman said and replied, “I know, I’ve not a chance.”

William, 42, shook the woman’s hand one final time and posed for photos with her with a smile on his face. He helped the woman take a selfie with him on her phone, making sure she got a good picture before walking off to greet other folks who were excitedly waiting. The prince went a bit casual with his look, wearing a navy blue jacket with a light blue button-down shirt, relaxed-fit trousers and blue sneakers for the outing.

After the video went viral on X, many social media users left sweet comments about the interaction.

“I love how William is so at ease with his own skin that he can joke about his hair and no awkwardness there,” one X user wrote in a comment.

“William is very charismatic, he’s the People’s Prince,” another said, as someone else wrote, “He’s a nice man!”

“Prince william is such a gent,” another comment read.

“A complete natural just like his mum,” said another person, referencing William’s late mother, Princess Diana.

“He’s so funny and genuine,” another person pointed out.

“Love this man. You can just feel his warmth through the screen,” someone else said in an X comment.

Another person chimed in to say, “What a class act he is!”

William has been sporting a new look recently, stepping out in public with facial hair.

Jason Knauf, a former royal aide to William and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, offered commentary on William’s beard during an appearance on 60 Minutes Australia in February.

“I love it. I think it’s great,” he said. “But I’ve talked to him about it — or tried to talk to him about it. He’s like, ‘It’s here. I have a beard.’ No further conversation.’”

He was asked if Kate, 43, was a fan of the look, and he said, “If she didn’t like it, it wouldn’t be there. I could tell you that.”

William revealed that his daughter, Princess Charlotte, 8, was not a huge fan of his beard the first time he grew it out.

“Well, Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off,” he said while visiting Cape Town, South Africa, in November 2024.

William, who also shares sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6, with Kate, said, “Then I grew it back. I thought, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be OK.”
