The film industry is filled with countless movies and franchises, but when it comes to the superhero genre, two franchises reign supreme: the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the MCU) and DC.
The DC-Marvel rivalry has long been fueled by fan debates, with endless discussions that seem to have no end. However, Pedro Pascal, the star of Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, ended the infamous rivalry with one single post. Read on to know more.
Pedro Pascal ends the DC/Marvel rivalry

The next month will bring two of the most anticipated superhero movies of all time: Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Fantastic Four: First Steps releasing on July 25, and DC’s Superman, releasing on July 11.
Releasing just two weeks apart, the fan rivalry is already intense with each side pitting one or the other against each other. However, Pedro Pascal, the star of Fantastic Four, who will be portraying the charming Mr. Fantastic in the film, recently flipped the script on the age-old DC/Marvel rivalry.
The actor, recently reposted a fan art by @justralphy/Instagram on his Instagram stories. Featuring Superman and Mr. Fantastic aka Reed Richards sitting side by side looking at a scarlet sky that features an amalgamation of the Superman logo and the Fantastic Four logo, Pascal celebrated both the film’s release.
While sharing the post, he wrote the hashtag #SuperFantastic accompanied by red and blue heart emojis. The sweet gesture ended the DC/Marvel rivalry at once, which has been fueling toxic fan wars for a long time.

Playing Reed Richards in Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman, Pascal hyped the film’s retro-futuristic 1960s setting. Yet, he also gave a nod to Superman, James Gunn’s DCU reboot starring Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Isabela Merced.
Earlier this month, when asked by fans about the superhero showdown between the two franchises, even James Gunn had similar things to say. On Threads, the director stated that there’s room for us both! I love my friends at Marvel. He added that instead of getting wound up in the narrative online, he would be focusing on the positivity around both films, which is better than getting sucked up in online fan wars (via Cosmic Book News).
While fans appreciated the DC helmer’s response, the Last of Us star’s recent display of support has won the hearts of both sides of fans. Scroll on to see how Marvel and DC fans are reacting:
While fans online are still continuing to engage in fan wars and pushing one film as the better superhero tale, Pascal’s post has had a generally positive impact. Sparking a wave of support, from both DC and Marvel fans, many have been hailing his Instagram story as an antidote to toxic fandoms.
With Fantastic Four: First Steps and Superman both featuring a talented cast of actors with storylines that already sound appealing to fans, both films promise to be a spectacle. Even though DC and Marvel have traditionally clashed, times have changed and we cannot wait to see what the summer will bring for superhero fans.
James Gunn’s Superman will arrive in theatres on July 11, while the MCU’s Fantastic Four: Last Steps will release on July 25 in the United States.
