Path of Exile 2 Subtly Teases a New Class And It Looks Like Diablo 4’s Spiritborn Had a Long-Lost Twin

It’s been a few months since Path of Exile 2 was released in early access across PC and consoles, and developer-publisher duo Grinding Gear Games looks to improve upon the game even further, bringing with it multiple content drops and updates.

The Dawn of the Hunt content drop is one of the major patches set to release for the game on April 4, 2025, and it brings with it a brand new class. This class is known as the Huntress, and bears a strong similarity to Diablo 4’s very own Spiritborn class.

The recently unveiled teaser for the ‘Dawn Of The Hunt’ update of Path of Exile 2 brought with it the introduction of a new class – known as the Huntress. As the name suggests, the Huntress makes use of specialized hunting gear in order to take down enemies, clad in characteristic animal fur and wielding a Spear as her weapon of choice.

Based on the under 30-second long trailer for the update, the character seems to possess swift attacks with a certain degree of ranged AoE damage-inducing skills as well.

Interestingly, this particular class seems to draw in some direct ‘inspiration’ from Diablo 4 of all places. In particular, the Huntress seems to be akin to the long-lost twin of the Spiritborn, who was first introduced with Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion.

Both classes feature apex predators, forged in battle and are likely members of an ancient civilization. In terms of their overall appearance, both units are covered head to toe in animal fur, likely trophies from their hunt. In terms of gameplay similarities, both classes appear to use two-handed weapons and switch between multiple attacks of varying effectiveness.

The similarities likely end here, though, as Path of Exile 2 is most certainly going to incorporate a few unique ideas of its own to separate itself from the competition. As for what to expect from the update, only time will tell.

Grinding Gear Games is set to reveal more about the class and its abilities toward the second half of this very month, and we should have more concrete, non-speculative information available then.

The Dawn of The Hunt update launches on April 4, 2025, and brings with it multiple new additions. In particular, the update brings with it a reset to the game economy and balance, shortly following a select few nerfs to certain overpowered interactions.

A new Challenge League will also be added, as will a new Class (as discussed earlier, the Huntress). There will also be new Ascendancies, with a hireling-based Mercenary in particular.

The Huntress is also expected to receive the Spear as her weapon of choice, which is a melee tool capable of minor ranged attacks. Additionally, the game will also include Skill and Support Gems, along with a focus on Towers and making weapon set swapping a lot more viable.
