Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is a unique series that stands out not just because of its unique setting or its layered storytelling, the series revolutionizes the concept of supporting characters.

Usually, it is the protagonist who is at the forefront, always pulling the side characters to his level, supporting, saving, and helping them. It feels like the side characters only exist to make the protagonist shine further. But this familiar trope has been subverted by Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.
There is a sense of collective growth in the series, and it turns out that the entire Kim Dokja company has been working hard and making almost impossible efforts to save him from his fate.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint changed the set tropes in the isekai genre
The isekai genre has exploded in popularity over the years, but many of its stories follow a predictable formula. The story starts with a protagonist who is transported to another world, becomes overpowered, and is surrounded by a cast of mostly one-dimensional side characters who exist solely to hype the main character.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint (ORV) flips this narrative on its head. While there is no doubt that the attention is on the main character, it is actually the side characters who drive the story and the entire narrative.
As we move forward toward the end, we get to know that the main character, Kim Dokja, could not have existed without the grueling efforts of his comrades. They went far and beyond to save him, even if it meant sacrificing their near-perfect lives and being thrust into a world of pain.
Other anime need to learn from Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and how it treats its supporting cast. There has been a vast majority of anime that only focuses on the main character. Even when the supporting cast is involved, it feels forced or just another way to keep them relevant in the story.
Why Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint stands out from the crowd
Even the best isekai has to realize that for proper narration and to have good worldbuilding, there is a need to explore the characters in depth. This is what makes stories like Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint so unique and special.

Solo Leveling, for instance, is a massively popular title right now. It is a power-leveling fantasy that is a meta-isekai. The side characters are merely there for convenience, and the entire narrative caters to the protagonist, Sung Jinwoo.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has an excellent support cast that is varied- be it Han Sooyoung, Yoo Junghyuk, or Yoo Sangah, they are all extremely special, and a lot of care is given to flesh out their arcs and stories. Instead of a narrative that revolves solely around Kim Dokja, the story seems to be a connection to the lives of his comrades.
This is what makes the emotional impact so vivid and clear, unlike most other anime. The supporting characters don’t exist to boost his ego or serve as stepping stones to making him more powerful. They all grow together, challenging each other and constantly refining each other.
This approach makes Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint‘s world feel alive. It seems to present a reality where the protagonist is indeed a reader or a spectator. Making it more and more intriguing to see the development of the cast and how it all unfolds in a grand manner.
The Prophet: Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint will be released in July 2025. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint can be read on Webtoon.
