‘Now You See Me 3’: Release Date, Cast, Plot, and All You Need to Know

The Four Horsemen are saddling up again. After years of speculation, delays, and the occasional vanishing act, Now You See Me 3 is finally happening. This, for years, felt like one of the franchise’s own tricks – hinted at, rumored, and then disappearing into thin air. Originally announced in 2016, the project seemed to be stuck in development limbo for the better part of a decade.

Lionsgate, however, has officially confirmed that the new NYSM film is set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025. If you’re wondering why Now You See Me 3 took so long, the production process wasn’t exactly smooth sailing.

Why did Now You See Me 3 take so long?

Delays due to scheduling conflicts, script rewrites, and even the pandemic pushed the film back multiple times. But finally, in November 2024, filming wrapped, and the movie is currently in post-production.

A significant change in the creative team occurred when Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Uncharted) took over as director, replacing Now You See Me 2’s Jon M. Chu. Fleischer is no stranger to this kind of filmmaking either, so it would be interesting to see what direction he takes. Now You See Me 3 is, meanwhile, set to return with the franchise’s core ensemble.

The magic returns and who’s in the cast?

Jesse Eisenberg returns as J. Daniel Atlas, the cocky illusionist and leader of the Four Horsemen. Mark Ruffalo reprises his role as Dylan Rhodes, the former FBI agent who revealed himself as the secret mastermind behind the Eye. Woody Harrelson is also back as Merritt McKinney and Dave Franco returns as Jack Wilder, the sleight-of-hand expert.

Now You See Me 3 will also see Isla Fisher make her long-awaited return as Henley Reeves after skipping Now You See Me 2. Morgan Freeman is back as Thaddeus Bradley and Lizzy Caplan, who joined in the second film as Lula May, sticks around as the team’s wildcard.

The sequel also introduces several intriguing new faces. Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, The Wheel of Time) joins the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie, Ahsoka) is another addition,

Justice Smith (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) also joins the ensemble, though details about his character remain secret. Meanwhile, rising star Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers) makes his franchise debut.

One noticeable absence from the cast is Michael Caine, who played the wealthy and vengeful Arthur Tressler in the first two films. At 91, Caine recently announced his retirement from acting, making his return unlikely.

What’s the plot of Now You See Me 3?

Lionsgate has kept the plot details for Now You See Me 3 tightly under wraps, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Here’s what we do know for now. At the end of Now You See Me 2, we saw the Four Horsemen being officially invited into The Eye, the mysterious society of magicians (Mark Ruffalo reveal) who operate behind the scenes. This opens up plenty of possibilities for the next film.

Every Now You See Me film is based around an elaborate con or heist, so it’s safe to assume that the third movie will up the ante with a larger, more ambitious mission. With Rosamund Pike and other new cast members joining, there’s a chance that the Horsemen may face a rogue or an internal traitor.

Daniel Radcliffe’s Walter Mabry, who played the villain in Now You See Me 2, isn’t officially confirmed for the sequel, but a surprise return isn’t out of the question. Some rumors suggest Now You See Me 3 might introduce a fresh new team of magicians, possibly setting the stage for more installments.

It’s been almost a decade since Now You See Me 2 hit theaters and the wait for the third chapter has been long – too long some might argue. So, while we have some details, expect plenty of surprises when the film finally arrives later this year. Till that happens, keep your eyes open – the best magic tricks happen when you’re not paying attention.
