Ninja Gaiden 4: Xbox Doesn’t Need Bloodborne Anymore

If you’re an Xbox fan who has been waiting for a game with over-the-top and crazy action, this new game is for you. Xbox Games Showcase 2025 has finally revealed the release date for Ninja Gaiden 4, and we can finally declare that Xbox doesn’t need Bloodborne anymore. Team Ninja’s upcoming title is coming out on October 21.

The new trailer gives us a look at the kind of visceral, bloody combat that we can expect to get in the title, and it’s exactly what we hoped for. Are you ready to finally experience the kind of high-speed, punishing action that’s coming your way?

Ninja Gaiden 4 is here to scratch our Bloodborne itch

Earlier this year, Xbox quietly shadow-dropped a brilliant remake of Ninja Gaiden 2, and it was received well. However, we also got news of a new title in the series at the same time. Now, we have all the new details, and it’s clear that Team Ninja is doubling down on brutal but stylish combat.

In case you haven’t been up to date with Ninja Gaiden 4, the game will feature a dual-protagonist setup. Of course, we will still get to wield the katana as Ryu Hayabusa, but the story this time centers around Yakumo, a blood-manipulating ninja of the Raven Clan.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is set several years after the Dark Dragon’s destruction. In terms of the story, we’re taken to a futuristic, decaying Tokyo that has been taken over by the cursed Rain of Darkrot. This time, it’s up to Yakumo and perhaps Ryu to uncover the truth behind the Divine Dragon Order and end the chaos once and for all.

From a gameplay perspective, Ninja Gaiden 4 builds on the franchise’s notorious difficulty and fluid combat but with a lot of new and modern twists. We can expect the dual protagonists to have different play styles and movesets. And of course, we can also expect Ryu to have some of the classic moves from older games.

Xbox is really becoming the GOAT of gaming

And let’s talk about that Bloodborne elephant in the room. It’s been over ten years since Bloodborne came out, and FromSoftware’s hit hasn’t gotten a PS5 remaster or sequel, and there’s none in sight. So it seems like Ninja Gaiden 4 is more than happy to step in, and we’re happy to let it.

The new trailer also gave us the much-awaited preorder details for the game. All pre-orders will get the Dark Dragon Descendant skin for Yakumo. And aside from that, there’s also a lot of goodies for those who get the $89.99 deluxe edition. It will come with two skins for Ryu and Yakumo, and a number of weapon skins for both protagonists.

And of course, it wouldn’t be an Xbox Games Showcase without the presence of accessibility. Ninja Gaiden 4 is launching across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with Xbox Cloud Gaming support included. And of course, as you’d expect, it will also be a Day One title on Xbox Game Pass.

So are you going to be tuning in on October 21 to play Ninja Gaiden 4? Do you think it will finally scratch that Bloodborne itch? Let us know in the comments!
