Kaizer Chiefs are going all out in their attempts to sign a marquee striker that will transform their team next season.
After yet another underwhelming season in front of goal, coach Nasreddine Nabi wants at least two strikers for Chiefs!
Chiefs need attacking reinforcements
Upon arrival at Chiefs last season, Nabi made it clear that the club still needs a striker. He was heavily reliant on Ranga Chivaviro as well as Wandile Duba at that time. Later in that season, Ashley du Preez returned from injury and featured more, with two new forwards signed. Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo were those additions, and to mixed fortunes.
While Lilepo was a success with five goals, making him the club’s joint top goal scorer, Morris flopped. It is then no surprise that Nabi is back making it his personal mission to find a complete striker for Chiefs. It has been no secret that his preferred candidate has been Fiston Mayele, who recently scored in the CAF Champions League final. His goal was one of two that ensured that Pyramids FC won their first ever continental title, at the expense of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nabi in Egypt for Mayele talksm
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, after convincing Feisal Salum to join Chiefs, Nabi is in Egypt for Mayele.
“The coach (Nabi) is looking at the players who he believes can help the team next season. Not just in the local competitions but in Africa as well. You know they were in Tanzania where they are set to sign Feisal Salum from Azam FC and the main reason of going to Egypt was to find out what’s happening with Fiston Mayele. You know he knows he is from DRC, then Yanga SC and him believe he can help Chiefs in playing in Africa. That was his mission in Egypt,” said the source.
The perfect striker for Amakhosi?
