At one point one of the men narrowly avoids being stabbed by jumping out of the way as the machete is thrust towards him.

The chilling scenes were captured at around 9.30pm on Sunday (March 16) near to Aston Villa‘s Villa Park stadium.

A large group of hooded males, dressed in dark clothing, had gathered outside the fast food shop called “UK’s Best Fried Chicken & Shawarma”.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a disorder in Aston.

“We were called to the junction of Trinity Road and Woodbridge after reports of a group of men with weapons fighting.

“We are reviewing video footage of the violence and are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area on 16 March between 9pm and 9.30pm.

“If you have any dashcam footage showing the disorder, contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting log 3885 of 16 March.”

Machete crime is a growing offence in Birmingham.

Last year it had the second highest rate of knife crime in England and Wales, with 4,930 offences per 100,000 of the population.

Unsurprisingly, London comes out as number one in the list of danger hotspots, with 16,521 serious offences involving a blade recorded by the Metropolitan police.

In third place is Greater Manchester (4,930), followed by West Yorkshire (2,318).

In fifth is South Yorkshire (1,629), followed by Essex (1,532), Merseyside (1,241), Sussex (1,186), Avon and Somerset (1,683) and Lancashire (1,189).

As showcased in The Sun’s interactive map below, the most recent data released by the Office for National Statistics covering the year up to September 2024 has revealed the areas most affected by knife crime within England and Wales.
