Michael B. Jordan Has His Eyes Set on a Live-Action Anime Adaptation

Many might not know about this, but Michael B. Jordan has always been a huge fan of Japanese anime. Yes, you heard that right. And ever since his recent success with movies like Creed III and Sinners, he’s probably been looking for more projects to take on. Now, knowing how big of an anime connoisseur he is, fans can guess what he might be up to next.

In fact, we may even get a live-action anime adaptation from him next! And this isn’t even some mere speculation that fans are hoping for. The man himself recently confessed that he’s quite eager to adapt one of his favorite anime into live-action. So, which anime he might decide to work on is what we need to figure out now.

Anime has always been a key inspiration behind multiple projects Jordan worked on

Michael B. Jordan is a huge anime fan, and it’s no secret. There have always been anime references here and there in his shows, which he revealed in past interviews. In fact, Creed III had a whole scene inspired by Naruto and Sasuke! The guy’s also a self-proclaimed Bleach and One Piece fanboy, and his films often reflect that.

Even during the Creed III press tour, Jordan didn’t miss the opportunity to talk about how Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Hajime no Ippo influenced the film’s epic fight scenes. So it’s clear how anime has had a major impact on his works.

But now, he’s finally planning to take his love for anime to the next level. In a recent chat with Vulture, Jordan mentioned he’s quite enthusiastic about directing a live-action anime adaptation next!

Maybe, find an anime- maybe do a live-action version of that anime.

Later in the same interview, he further expressed his excitement about the third season of Fire Force and the latest Fate/Stay Night as well. Now, does this really indicate something? Given the vibes of his past projects, a live-action Fire Force adaptation might just be the perfect fit, doesn’t it?

Directing a live-action anime adaptation will be a challenge in itself for Jordan

However, one thing we may take note of is how live-action adaptations often go extremely wrong. Which is why anime fans in general are always protective of their favorite shows.

Starting from that disastrous Ghost in the Shell to Bleach or even Dragon Ball, the track record with anime live-action adaptations has always been underwhelming.

Only with the recent Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action, fans have regained some hope. But still, such adaptations like Cowboy Bebop and Death Note will forever haunt the anime fandom.

So, can Michael B. Jordan pull it off? He’s certainly enthusiastic about anime, and he’s got a track record of making compelling films.

Jordan’s way of saying that he wants to direct an anime adaptation to cleanse the palette, basically implies that there’s a chance he’ll try something new and different. And who knows, maybe he’ll surprise us and nail it. Well, so to conclude, it’ll definitely be worth keeping an eye on this potential project.
