President John Mahama visited Adum in Kumasi to console victims of a devastating fire outbreak that destroyed several shops at the Blue Light area in the Central Business District.
Accompanied by Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the President expressed his sympathies to affected traders and assured them of the government’s support.
He tasked the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to provide immediate relief to those who suffered losses.
The fire, which broke out earlier in the day, reduced properties and goods worth millions of Ghana Cedis to ashes.
While the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, its impact on businesses in the area has been severe, leaving many traders in distress.
President Mahama’s visit reassured victims of the government’s commitment to help them recover from the disaster.
