Luffy vs Kaido Battle Had a Connection to Imu’s Domi Reverse and Past Vessel: One Piece Theory

The Supreme Leader of the World Government in One Piece, Imu, shocked the entire fanbase when he made an unexpected entry into the Elbaph arc. The One Piece antagonist took over Gunko’s body and used it as a vessel to take down the giants of Elbaph, turn them into demons, and use them as his army.

The technique that he used to create a literal army of demons is called Domi Reversi, and it is terrifying. However, what shocks fans more than anything else is the fact that Imu can use his subordinates as vessels and transfer his subconsciousness into others.

This has led to the development of a theory that Imu might have had other vessels in One Piece, and one of them was present during the Wano arc. This vessel was none other than Guernika, the CP0 agent who interfered with Luffy’s battle against Kaido and led to the awakening of Nika’s powers within the One Piece protagonist.

Imu can use his subordinates as vessels in One Piece

Ever since Imu’s character was introduced in One Piece, it has been foreshadowed that he is the strongest and most menacing villain in the series. In fact, the story has firmly established that he will be the final boss of the One Piece lore, but Eiichiro Oda kept him as a mystery for too long, and this plan of his was doubted by the fans of the anime.

Fans started believing that Oda is just hyping up Imu’s character, and he might not exactly have a plan for the One Piece villain. However, this all changed when Imu started showcasing his powers and abilities within the story, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that almost every power he can use in One Piece is on a completely different level.

From granting powers to turning characters into demons, Imu has a wide range of capabilities that prove why he is the strongest. Among them, the strongest power is definitely his ability to transfer his consciousness into his subordinates and take over their body. This is a frightening ability because it allows Imu to use his own and his subordinates’ powers at the same time in One Piece.

Imu had a vessel during the Kaido vs Luffy battle in Wano

According to a theory posted by That One Piece Talk podcast on Instagram, Guernika, the CP0 Agent who led the charge in Wano and got in between the battle of Kaido and Luffy, was also a vessel for Imu. The theory points out that Guernika shares quite a few resemblances with Gunko’s character within the story. From hiding his face to having different eyes with one eye being lighter than the other, Guernika looks a lot like Guernika.

This could be a mark left behind by Imu, which hints at the subordinates that he can use as vessels in One Piece. Another aspect of the theory is the Domi Reversi technique that Gunko/Imu used, which required him to play a game of Othello in order to turn others into demons. During the Wano arc, Guernika’s subordinates are seen playing “Go”, a game similar to Othello, and thus drawing parallels between the white and the black pieces of the story.

Finally, the theory suggests that Guernika’s name sounds a lot like “Gear Nika” and his actions during the Luffy vs Kaido battle led to Luffy awakening his Nika transformation. Whether he wanted to or not, the fact that his name and his actions led to Luffy’s biggest power-up is too hard to ignore. Thus, it is safe to say that Imu most likely used Guernika as his vessel before he got hold of Gunko in One Piece.
