Justin Baldoni‘s attorney Bryan Freedman made an appearance on the Hot Mics podcast with Billy Bush. The host kicked off the show by condemning Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ appearance at the elite SNL 50 event. Bush accused Reynolds of making light of the situation with a joke on the show.

Freedman spoke on the show about Baldoni and his whereabouts after the trial in their case was set for March 2026. He shared that Baldoni is in Hawaii. When Bush called it a vacation, Freedman shared that it is hardly a vacation for him given the heinous allegations raised against him.

When Bush asked about Baldoni’s mental health, Freedman replied that he was “hopeful” and “grateful”. Freedman further shared that Baldoni had let the victims of the LA fire use his house while he was off in Hawaii with his family. Freedman shared on the Hot Mics podcast:

I think he’s hopeful and I think he’s grateful. He’s grateful that he could be with his family and grateful that he could let other fire victims use his house, so it could come of some use. But like anyone else who would be going through a situation where you’re accused of something that he did not do and are suffering in a public way, I think it’s distressful to say the least.

In her complaint, Blake Lively claimed that Baldoni s*xually harassed her and created a hostile working environment. In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane. The lawsuit claims civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, and intentional interference with contractual relations.

Fans were not happy to see Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively all happy on the red carpet of the SNL 50 event. After months of laying low, the celebrity couple appeared for their first public event. They went on to even make light of the situation they are in right now with a joke, that didn’t sit well with many.

During a Q&A session where celebrities in the audience could ask questions, Reynolds put his hand up. Hosts and SNL alums, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, went on to ask the Deadpool & Wolverine actor, “Ryan Reynolds! How’s it going?”. He shot back with the response, “Great! Why, what have you heard?”. Fey and Poehler replied, “No, nothing,” to which the entire room erupted in laughter.

Even more priceless was Lively’s response to the whole situation. She went completely blank at Reynolds’ line in the video. Here’s a clip of Reynolds’ interaction at SNL 50:

Fans of Baldoni might not be happy that the couple seem to keep things light and unbothered. The SNL 50 clip has since gone viral and has gained attention, both good and bad.
