Killer wife GUILTY of murdering husband then claiming he took own life in ‘desperate’ 999 call after brutal attack

A TWISTED wife who strangled her husband to death then claimed he took his own life has been found guilty of murder.

Amy Pugh, 34, spun a sadistic web of lies in a “desperate” 999 call after brutally attacking Kyle Pugh.

She claimed she came home to find the 30-year-old had ended his life on the evening of March 22, 2022.

But a post mortem showed Kyle had suffered compression to the neck and fractures to the structure of the neck.

The dad also had a fractured nose and eye socket following the horror at the family home in Newport, Shropshire.

Pugh has now been found guilty of murder following a trial at Stafford Crown Court.

Jurors heard Pugh had called her dad before dialling 999 20 minutes after “gaining the upper hand” over her husband.

She then told an emergency worker her husband had taken his own life and could be heard saying: “Kyle, wake up, why have you done this.”

The court was told the two were like “lovestruck teenagers” when they first got together in 2012 but it soon turned toxic.

Their relationship was described as “volatile, turbulent and abusive” and was marred by attacks that were often fuelled by drink or drugs.

At the time of Kyle’s death, the pair had separated and he was seeing someone new.

He had gone to the family home to see his children when Pugh claimed she “lost composure” after finding out his new partner may be pregnant.

She claimed her husband had left the house and she later opened the back door to let the dog into the garden when she discovered him hanging.

Pugh told the court: “It did not look like Kyle; he was a different colour.

“Almost looked like he was a bit swollen, like everything was bigger.”

But prosecutor Julian Evans KC told the trial that the story was a “complete fiction” and that Pugh had lied “deliberately and with calculation”.

He added: “It was violence that involved Amy striking Kyle in the face and he struck her back, but it didn’t stop there.

“It involved Amy overpowering Kyle, she gained the upper hand over him, she was able to subdue him and deliberately compressed his neck by some means, whether that be a chokehold, strangulation or a ligature.

“It was violence directed at the neck and violence that was unlawful.”

Pugh was remanded into custody to be sentenced on September 5.
