Sadly, his response has sparked speculation that he may have been axed.
Apple TV+ recently confirmed that Ted Lasso will return for another season, but details about the cast lineup have been kept under wraps.
Nick was careful not to give anything away when asked directly about his involvement.
Speaking to host Chris Moyles, Nick admitted that he is aware of what has already been revealed in the press, particularly in relation to an upcoming twist in the new season.
He shared: “I know what has come out in the press. But I think it’s fine to say that I did know that before, so I know that it’s about Ted coming back and coaching the women’s football team.”
Chris then pressed him for more information, asking if this would take place at AFC Richmond.
Nick confirmed: “At Richmond. That’s definitely come out.”
However, when Chris suggested that Nick’s involvement had already been announced, the actor quickly shut down the claim.
“That’s not been announced,” he clarified. “If I knew that for definite, I would not be here.”
Despite being coy about his role, Nick did reveal that the next season would see the arrival of fresh faces.
He teased: “There’s obviously going to be a whole host of new characters in it. So, we will see.”
Fans have since speculated Nate’s absence from the official announcements might hint that his time on the show has come to an end.
Season three saw his character go through a significant redemption arc, as his character Nate the Great returned to Richmond after his brief stint at West Ham United.
Since the new season is going to introduce a fresh lineup of players, many are wondering if Nate’s story has reached its conclusion.
