We all know how remakes work in the gaming industry by now. You take an old game, rebuild it from the ground up, and make every part of the game look better. Konami is doing the same thing in 2025 with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, except it isn’t?
According to the latest Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline, the developers have decided to keep one part of MGS 3 intact, and you might’ve guessed it already. We’ve already seen the game’s new graphics, new combat, and all that jazz. But we’re going to see the same Secret Theater gag reels in the remake, and that’s perfect.
Metal Gear Solid Delta is going to have the OG Secret Theater cutscenes

In case you didn’t know yet, Secret Theater is a collection of comedic alternate cutscenes, originally made just for the developers’ own amusement at MGS 3‘s wrap party. Originally hidden away on Konami’s official site and later on the Subsistence bonus disc, these short gag reels are parodies of the game’s most dramatic moments with absurd alternate outcomes.

These cutscenes included funny events like Snake causing time paradoxes or The End falling in love with Eva. And it might sound ludicrous to you today, but that was exactly the point. Fast forward to 2025. During the recent Konami Press Start showcase, the developers gave us the news that this part of the game isn’t changing.
In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami is bringing them back exactly as they were—no upscaling, no retexturing. And according to creative producer Yuji Korekado, there’s a very specific reason for that. The cutscene director for Metal Gear Solid Delta is the same person who originally made those gags, and he believes the comedy lands better in the janky, outdated visuals of the PlayStation 2 era.

The fun doesn’t stop there, though. The developers have also added new Secret Theater clips for us to find. This time, of course, they will be rendered in the remake’s modern visual style. These can be found as collectible films held by enemy soldiers. So don’t forget to look for them when you play!
The remake will have a lot of new bells and whistles

This careful balance is why Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater might be the most complete remake Konami has ever produced. We’ve seen so many remakes of games that go so heavily into giving them a “modern look” that they forget to keep the parts of the original that shone.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for what Metal Gear Solid Delta is going to give us. The disguise system returns in full force with new options like the gharial suit and lab coat, with new interactions. We’re also getting an all-new online multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt. This is probably what Konami hinted at recently in one of the trailers.
2025 is already packed with good games, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is looking like a strong addition to the list. The remake comes out on August 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Will you be checking it out?
