Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Basadien and Hussein chase heats up

Kaizer Chiefs transfer news has landed, the Soweto giants have halted talks regarding Happy Mashiane’s future as their frantic search for a reliable left-back continues to stall. With the new season fast approaching, Amakhosi face mounting pressure to land a key signing, or risk heading into the campaign underprepared in a critical position.

Chiefs have had their eyes firmly set on two prime targets, Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien and Simba SC’s Mohamed Hussein. Their pursuit of a seasoned left-back dates back to the start of last season, yet neither move has materialised.

Mashiane may stay by default

A source suggests that failure to secure either Basadien or Hussein could result in Mashiane staying at the club, not necessarily by choice, but due to lack of alternatives.

“Mashiane might stay because of this small problem of not signing Basadien or Hussein. We know Nabi and Tera (Maliwa) are in Tanzania, possibly monitoring Hussein and (Denis) Kibu. Also, Cross is there too to provide cover with Dove most likely leaving Naturena,” the source stated.

With Dove expected to leave, the pressure on Kaizer Chiefs to bolster their left flank has intensified. However, the club’s indecision and missed opportunities may soon backfire.

Sundowns poised to get Basadien deal

Despite stiff competition from both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, Chiefs still believe they’re in the running to land Basadien. But with Sundowns already stacked with left-back options, including Terrence Mashego, Divine Lunga, Aubrey Modiba, and Asekho Tiwani, the deal appears unlikely but our source believes Masadawana will still get him.

“So you saw the reports of Sundowns triggering (Terrence) Mashego’s contract, also they got Divine Lunga and (Aubrey) Modiba, and the boy that came from Sekhukhune United (Asekho Tiwani). Now they want Basadien, where will he play? And for this reason, Chiefs still think they have a chance but what I’m hearing is that Fawaaz will join Sundowns,” the source explained.

Basadien’s stats highlight Chiefs’ urgency

Basadien, 28, contribution at Stellenbosch FC this season has been remarkable, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.
