Over the years, John Cena has undergone massive personality changes. From the Doctor of Thuganomics to Heel Cena, each persona brings something fresh to the ring. However, one thing has remained constant: his mic skills that can make the crowd stand on their feet, and bury his opponents 6 feet underground.

One can cut the best promo of their wrestling career, but one ‘Fine speech’ from Cena and it’s all over for them. Something similar happened during a segment of Monday Night RAW when the Face That Runs the Place made his return. However, his moment was cut short, when the then-US Champion, Austin Theory, challenged him to a match at WrestleMania.
During their faceoff, Cena flaunted his mic skills and not only hushed the Champion but also gave a low blow to WWE.
WWE was caught in the crossfire during John Cena’s promo
Back in 2023, John Cena was actively playing the role of a part-timer in WWE, where he would occasionally return before a major pay-per-view. When he made his emphatic return during a segment of RAW, fans went nuts, giving absolutely deafening pops that even left the future Hall of Famer stunned.

The 16-time WWE Champion made his way to the ring and ensured that Austin Theory would receive one of the most harsh and critical promos of his career. The Champ challenged Cena for a match at WrestleMania 39, a big mistake on his part.
This paved the way for The Prototype to put him back in his place by giving him declining his challenge and giving him a reality check. He said via WWE,
I would much rather be bald than have them pipe in fake crowd noises for my matches because nobody cares. You really are a dumb son of a b***h, I didn’t say no because I gave up, I said no to save you’re a**, you’re not ready.
The lines were savage and hit WWE below the belt, who would manipulate the audience by piping in crowd noises to seek their desired reaction. Though it sounds disappointing, the company has been using it, and on several occasions, its use was quite evident.

However, Cena was not done yet because he gave Theory two propositions of what would take place if he won at WrestleMania 39. He added,
Dude, you’re really putting my back against the wall but you don’t understand. If you and I have a match at WrestleMania and I win, you lose everything, you’re done, you’re done.
However, things did not seem to be in his favor, even if he came out on top, because he had to face the fans at the first RAW following the PPV. He added,
And if we have a match at WrestleMania and you win, you lose everything. No sure, sure. You may win the day. But then you got to go out the Monday after all by yourself and explain. You won’t have me to lean on. No, it’ll just be you big man against the most harsh vocal ruthless critical audience in the WWE and they will eat you alive.
The crowd applauded, indicating they agreed with what the Chain Gang Soldier said, and gave a louder cheer when he called out Austin Theory for being “full of c**p.”
However, Cena didn’t want to give up on the fans just yet, as he accepted his challenge after asking the Boston crowd.
The WWE Universe claims Cena buried Austin Theory from that promo
By the time, the promo ended, Austin Theory realized that he dug a grave for himself by challenging the 16-time WWE Champion. Moreover, it was visibly evident how the then-US Champ was buried by the mic skills of Cena and how the fans would eat him alive on social media and in the arena following the outcome of their match.

The promo was an underrated one, when a user took to X, praising him for how he absolutely cooked the Champ despite losing the match in the PPV. The fans commented,
Cena absolutely cooked Theory with that line! He never stood a chance! 😭💀🔥

Cena really hit the nail on the head. Doesn’t matter that Austin won, did him no good. This match wasn’t good for anybody.

People care about theory after Jey squash him yesterday. The forget that Cena did the same and didnt care after that. Why now they care? Why after jey squash him?

That was an utter burial of him right there, outside of the piped in noise remark, Cena basically said even if he wins at WM he’s still gonna suck. I mean damn you’d think he legit pissed Cena off and he went off the script and decided to bury him.

Nevertheless, fans hope that they get to see this ruthless promo-cutter version of Cena in the coming weeks, as the storyline with Cody Rhodes gets more tense.
