Jenny Slate Refuses to Discuss the ‘It Ends With Us’ Legal Battle

Jenny Slate will not be weighing in on the legal drama between It Ends With Us costars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

“I don’t have anything to say about that,” Slate, 42, stated during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on Thursday, March 20, when asked to compare It Ends With Us and her forthcoming FX series, Dying for Sex, which is set to premiere next month.

“Everything is its own thing,” Slate continued. “I poured my heart into this work, and every minute of [Dying for Sex] was important to me, and I just want to talk about that.”

The comedian is aware, however, that she will be asked about It Ends With Us during her Dying for Sex press tour.

“Anyone can ask anything, but my only responsibility is to speak about the work I’m there to promote,” Slate said. “It was so important to me to get this job, so why would I spend time talking about anything but that?”

Dying for Sex sees Slate sharing the screen with Michelle Williams in FX’s eight-episode miniseries based on the 2020 podcast of the same name. The show follows the story of a woman named Molly, who leaves her marriage and explores her sexuality after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Williams, 44, will take on the role of Molly while Slate plays her best friend, Nikki.

Dying for Sex is Slate’s first project since she appeared as Allysa — the sister to Baldoni’s character, Ryle — in It Ends With Us last year.

Prior to the film’s premiere, rumors started to spread that there was discourse between Baldoni, who also directed the film, and Lively, who starred as his onscreen wife, Lily. In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint accusing Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios production company of sexual harassment and fostering a hostile work environment. (Baldoni has continued to deny these claims.)

What ‘It Ends With Us’ Cast Has Said About Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

Slate shared her support for Lively, 37, after the claim was filed with a statement to Today.com.

“As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation,” she said at the time, in part. “Blake is a leader, loyal friend and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.”

Baldoni has since retaliated with multiple lawsuits, and his legal back-and-forth with Lively continues. He and Lively are set to face off in court starting March 2026.
