Jamey-Lyn Horth vs. Vanessa Demopoulos prediction, odds, pick for UFC Atlanta

Following a stellar UFC 316 from New Jersey, the UFC hits the road once again to Atlanta as we open the fight card in the Women’s Flyweight (125) Division. Canada’s Jamey-Lyn Horth will take on Fight Ready MMA’s Vanessa Demopoulos as both fighters hope to bounce back from a loss. Check the UFC odds series for our Horth-Demopoulos prediction and pick.

Jamey-Lyn Horth (7-2) comes into this bout with a 2-2 record in the UFC since 2023. She’s alternated wins and losses up to this point, dropping her most recent bout by unanimous decision at the hands of Miranda Maverick. After her previous opponent withdrew from this bout, she’ll pivot to face Demopolous here. Horth stands 5-foot-7 with a 66-inch reach.

Vanessa Demopoulos (11-7) brings a 5-4 UFC record into this fight since 2021. After notching back-to-back wins as recently as 2024, she’s dropped two-straight heading into this bout and will hope to avoid a .500 record during her UFC stint. She comes in as the heavy betting underdog. Demopoulos stands 5-foot-2 with a 59.5-inch reach.

Why Jamey-Lyn Horth Will Win

  • Last Fight: (L) Miranda Maverick – U DEC
  • Last 5: 3-2
  • Finishes: 3 KO/TKO, 2 SUB

Jamey-Lyn Horth will be looking to bounce back following a disappointing loss, but she shouldn’t hang her head given Maverick’s status as a top contender in the division. Prior to that loss, Horth went 1-1 with two split decisions against formidable competition, but she’s hoping for a more definitive result in this fight given her ability to find the finish throughout her career. Still, she’s searching for her first finish at the UFC level and could find it as one of the bigger betting favorites on this card.

Horth keeps an extremely strong striking base when advancing and holds her hands high in defense. She lands on 51% of her significant strikes, which could use improvement, but she holds an impressive defense at 60% against opponents. While she may seem stiff at times, this is because she generates a ton of power in her shots and can certainly stun opponents if she lands clean.

She’s struggled in the past against fighters that display active movement throughout the octagon due to her striking stance. In order to be successful here, she should look to cut Demopoulos off along the cage and work her low leg kicks to stifle the lateral movement.

Why Vanessa Demopoulos Will Win

  • Last Fight: (L) Talita Alencar – U DEC
  • Last 5: 2-3
  • Finishes: 1 KO/TKO, 4 SUB

Vanessa Demopoulos will go back to the drawing board following two disappointing losses heading into this bout. Early into her UFC run, she was a serious threat to catch opponents in submissions and remained active in grappling competitions outside of the promotion. However, she’s strayed away from her roots and has seen some struggles in falling behind on the striking numbers. To be successful here, she should take the fight where she’s most comfortable and look to land a submission win on Horth.

Demopoulos does a phenomenal job at keeping her energy high during the fight and uses lateral movement to her advantage. Against a straight-up striker like Horth, she’ll need to utilize every bit of this skill set in keeping her opponent guessing and moving her head off the center line. She’ll also want to avoid getting backed into the cage as she struggles to find offense when fighting off her back foot.

To win this bout, Demopoulos will need to remain in motion while finding a home in her lead jab. Horth favors settling into a striking rhythm in order to land combinations, so Demopoulos should do everything in her power to disrupt those combinations and keep her opponent from finding a consistent groove.

Final Jamey-Lyn Horth-Vanessa Demopoulos Prediction & Pick

Both women are determined to get back on the winning track and we should see a violent affair given their willingness to exchanges strikes in the pocket. The striking advantage has to go to Horth for her striking prowess, but the slight grappling advantage can be given to Demopoulos simply due to her time spent on the ground.

Still, Jamey-Lyn Horth has never been finished in her professional career and I expect her defense to hold up very well against Demopoulos, who isn’t as much of a technical fighter as much as she is a brawler. For our final prediction, we’ll roll with Horth to grab the win as this fight is likely to go to a decision in favor of the betting favorite.

Final Jamey-Lyn Horth-Vanessa Demopoulos Prediction & Pick: Jamey-Lyn Horth (-600); OVER 2.5 Rounds (-395)
