‘I’ve gained a best friend for life’, says RTE star as she breaks silence after winning Dancing With The Stars

RTE star Laura Nolan has broken her silence after winning Dancing With The Stars for the first time.

The professional dancer and her celeb partner Rhys McClenaghan nabbed the coveted Glitterball trophy last Sunday after delivering a breathtaking final dance that left all four judges speechless.

Laura took to Instagram last night to share her feelings after the big win.

The 30-year-old posted some gorgeous photos of herself and Rhys with their trophy and said: “What an incredible season. They say it takes a village and it absolutely does.

“At the start of the season I said to myself that I really wanted to be proud of each and every dance.

“I’m so happy that I was able to do that and that is not down to just myself.”

Laura made sure to thank everyone behind the scenes who helped bring the dances to life each week, as well as the production team ShinAwiL who has given her the “opportunity to showcase her love of dance”.

The celebrity choreographer wrote out a heartfelt message for her partner Rhys that said: “Rhys you made this season a dream. You trusted and believed in me throughout this whole journey.

“You opened your mind to dance, gave it your all and produced incredible dances week in and week out. You’re so inspirational and it was an honour to take the dance floor with you each week.

“Thank you for making this season unforgettable. Our journey dancing together has come to an end the the best way possible by lifting that glitterball but best of all I’ve gained a best friend for life.”

Laura’s friends and fans all rushed to the comment section with love and support.

Her fiance Matthew MacNabb said: “A season to remember.”

Ciara wrote: “Absolutely amazing. Huge, huge, huge congratulations.”

Michael commented: “Bravo! You both lit up the stage and brought home the trophy!”

‘AMAZING’

Karen added: “This was your year Laura and ye both truly deserved to win, so entertaining to watch… we will all miss watching you on a Sunday evening.”

Speaking after the show, Rhys told The Irish Sun: “To be named Dancing With The Stars champions 2025 is just amazing.”

Asked if he had commiserated with rival Jack Woolley, who he had been neck and neck with throughout the show, Rhys said: “Just like all the contestants, I said they were incredible throughout the show.

“It was so admirable everybody stepping outside their normal career path and doing something completely new.

“Myself and Laura had a quick chat even before the results were called out and we just said, we could both be so proud of ourselves. We will be happy no matter what happens — but the win was the cherry on the top.”
