‘It’s going to be a decent day’ as weather bosses share final St Patrick’s Day forecast amid major shift in DAYS

ST PATRICK’S Day is looking to stay mostly dry despite low temperatures as a major shift is on the way.

The rest of the bank holiday weekend is set to be largely dry with only the odd shower coming along.

Met Eireann have said that for anyone heading to a parade for St Patrick’s Day, they’ll be in luck as only a little bit of cloud will cover the skies.

Aoife Kealy said: “While we’re going to have a little more cloud for the rest of the long weekend, most places will stay dry with just the odd shower drifting in across the country.

“So for anyone hoping to get out and about for St Patrick’s Day, it is going to be a decent day for it, even if it is a little cool.

TODAY’S WEATHER

Today is looking to be mostly dry with some spells of sunshine and cloud will bring one or two showers.

She said: “Today is going to be generally dry with spells of spring sunshine.

“There’ll be a bit of patchy cloud around though and that is going to bring one or two light showers. Highest today of 8C to 11C in light easterly or variable winds.”

Tonight will be another clear night with only the odd shower returning.

However, those cold nights will still be felt, with temperatures hitting -1C and frost possible in some areas.

Aoife said: “Tonight then it’s going to be mainly dry with clear spells and just the odd shower, chilly enough though so some patchy frost is possible with lows of -1C to 4C in light winds.”

PADDY’S DAY FORECAST

Tomorrow will also see largely dry conditions, with early sunshine turning cloudier as the day goes on for St Patrick’s Day.

It will will be cool day, with temperatures ranging from 7C to 10C with some moderate winds making it feel colder.

Aoife said: “Tomorrow, La le Padraig will be dry for most though the odd shower will crop up and after some early sunshine.

“It is going to turn cloudier through tomorrow morning with just the odd sunny spell afterwards.

“Feeling quite cool in moderate southeast to be winds with highs of 7C to 10C.”

MAJOR SHIFT

Following the festivities, Ireland’s weather will stay settled and dry until Friday as temperatures finally begin to pick up.

Aoife said: “Now it is going to stay largely settled and dry then until Friday with temperatures gradually picking up on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Tuesday it’s going to be a dry day with spells of sunshine developing and just a few showers in the southwest.

“Still quite cool on Tuesday but Wednesday it is going to start to feel a little milder with dry and bright conditions across the country and Thursday then is going to be another dry day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures up to about 16C.

“So by Thursday a really lovely spring day, more unsettled then for Friday and the weekend though with nearby low pressure bringing spells of rain and breezy conditions.”
