GARDAI in Dublin arrested two men after seizing €87,000 worth of suspected cocaine hidden in sweet packets.
The discovery was made by Gardai from the Dublin Metropolitan Region South Central Drugs Unit yesterday.


The find came after a vehicle was stopped and searched in Dublin 2 area.
The substantial amount of suspected cocaine, some of which was concealed in the sweet packets, was seized alongside drug paraphernalia.
Two men were arrested during the search and brought to a Garda station in Dublin.
Investigations are ongoing and the drugs will now be subject to analysis.
Gardai shared the find on social media writing: “Gardai from the Dublin Metropolitan Region South Central Drugs Unit stopped and searched a vehicle in the Dublin 2 area yesterday.
“Over €87,000 of suspected cocaine (some of which was packaged in the form of sweets) was seized, along with drugs paraphernalia.
“The drugs seized are now subject to analysis.
“Two men were arrested during the course of the search, and conveyed to a Garda station in the Dublin region.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
The public were shocked by the find and how the illegal substance had been concealed.
Commenting on the Garda Facebook page one person wrote: “Imagine children finding these, it doesn’t bear thinking about.
Well done Garda.”
Another concerned person added: “Imagine one fell and a child found them .. they would innocently think sweets.”
Someone else said: “Frightening.”
MEATH SEARCH OP
Separately, four men were arrested yesterday following an intelligence-led search at a residential property in Stirling, Meath.
Officers seized 12kgs of cannabis herb, 400gs of heroin, eight bars of cannabis resin, and cannabis oils, gels, jellies and vapes.
Four men, who are aged in their 60s, 40s and 30s, were arrested at the scene.
They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act, 1996 at Garda Stations across Meath, Kildare and Dublin.
PROBE ONGOING
In a statement a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai from the Dublin Crime Response Team seized drugs worth €350,000 during an intelligence-led search operation of a residential property in Stirling, Co. Meath on Wednesday 19th March, 2025.
“The search operation was conducted as part of a long-running investigation into a criminal group based in west Dublin.
‘During the course of the search, gardai seized 12kgs of cannabis herb, 400gs of heroin, 8 bars of cannabis resin, and cannabis oils/gels/jellies and vapes.”
The statement added: “All seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland and investigations are ongoing.”
