So it’s no wonder that many homeowners consider this to be the perfect time to embrace a brighter space.

But injecting plenty of character and brightness into the home isn’t always about undergoing an extensive redecoration project or spending money on expensive new features.

Interior experts have said that little updates here and there around the home can have a huge impact – and still give you a much needed spring refresh.

And in a bid to help do just that, Lucy Steele from Valspar Paint has shared some tips on how you can decorate and breathe fresh life into your home this season.

She revealed that painting one forgotten area of the home can make a huge difference and give you an instant spring refresh.

The interiors pro said giving your front door a fresh coat of paint can do wonders when sprucing up your home.

It’s the first symbol of a home’s interior. Therefore, giving it a lick of paint is a great starting point for a spring update

Lucy said: “The front door is the first symbol of a home’s interior.

“Therefore, giving it a lick of paint is a great starting point for a spring update.

“Opting for a colour that represents the signs of spring, such as buttercup yellow or a glowing green, is perfect.

“Similarly, painting the internal doors can make just as big of an impact on the space.

“Doors get pushed, banged, and scraped often so giving them a spruce up is sure to give a much-needed refresh.

“Try matching the colour of the door to the walls and ceilings for a blended look or make a statement with something completely different and clashing.”

Lucy also shared tips on how to give the inside of your home a spring refresh – she urged homeowners to add floral touches to each room to embrace the new season.

She said: “A beloved thing about springtime is the abundance of colourful wildflowers popping up all over the place, like bluebells, tulips, and daffodils.

“This great burst of colour and life that appears in spring really does brighten up everyone’s mood.

“Be sure to bring plenty inside each room to give your interior an instant spring refresh.

“Whether the flowers are real or fake, including floral arrangements throughout the home can make it feel reawakened.”

Or for those who are looking to paint their home a new colour this spring, Lucy suggests going for some pastel colours.

Give your garden a spruce

IT’S not just your home that could do with a spring touch up – your garden needs a refresh, too.

Lucy says springtime is the best time to prepare our much-loved gardens in time for the summer.

She said: “As we approach spring, it’s the perfect time to prepare your garden for warmer weather.

Sprucing up garden furniture or repainting the fence is easily done, but can really transform a garden into a space filled with ambience and style.

For example, you can upcycle outdoor dining chairs and tables using some brightly coloured paint in tropical summer shades.

This rainbow-inspired set-up is just perfect for enjoying a sunny spring day with friends and family.

For example, she said pinks, yellows, and lilacs are on trend right now and can make a home feel “cosy”.

Lucy advised: “Pastel colours are synonymous with spring and all its floral beauty.

“Create a cosy, country cottage feel with a combination of pastel pinks, yellows, and lilacs.

“Light pinks, in particular, can make a living room appear whimsical and romantic, especially in a bright open space with lots of natural light flooding in.

“Try an accent wall first and, if you fall in love, then follow suit with the other walls and ceiling too.

“The lighter and softer tones of a pastel colour can create a haven of comfort and calm, building that serene feeling like a gentle spring breeze throughout the home.”

Sort your storage

LUCY also revealed that there is one thing that can help those who are carrying out a spring clean this month.

As well as actually cleaning, she explains that it is also important to sort your storage.

Lucy said: “Getting your storage in order is a huge part of perfecting your spring clean.

“Removing clutter and getting things organised can make a really big difference to your mental clarity and overall wellbeing.

“Plus, once you have sorted your storage space, you can have fun with the colour of it.

“Dark shelving will give contrast and depth to your room, as well as a dramatic contrast against wooden flooring and a white ceiling.”
