No family is without its fair share of drama, and despite Zendaya and Tom Holland’s seemingly wholesome and unproblematic image, their family too isn’t complete without some rifts.
Recently, Zendaya’s half-sister has come forward, sharing her feelings of being overlooked by her famous sibling. In a heartfelt and candid reveal, she opened up about the emotional strain she’s experienced over the years.
This especially comes as a shocker since Zendaya has often been praised for her grounded personality and close-knit family values, here is what is going on!

Despite Zendaya’s superstar status and seemingly perfect image, her family life appears to have some tension brewing. Her half-sister, Latonja Coleman, recently revealed she feels like the “black sheep” of the family.
Latonja believes this stems from their father’s past, as he shares her with his high school sweetheart, Michelle Mackintosh.
She also claimed that during her battle with cancer, she tried to reach out to Zendaya but was met with silence. She also alleged that some family members even “slammed the door” on her during her darkest moments. In the US Sun expose, she revealed,
I tried to get in touch with Zendaya when I was diagnosed with cancer, but [family members] slammed the door on me, I went through cancer and chemotherapy all by myself with no help, no support. I just want to know why Zendaya wasn’t there for me. [I believe] they never told her [I had cancer], but I’m sure she found out later.
Adding to the strain, Latonja shared that she’s only seen Zendaya twice in seven years, their most recent meeting being at their grandmother’s funeral in January. According to her, Zendaya treated her more like a fan than family during the encounter.

Zendaya’s half-sister also shared her candid thoughts on the actress’s relationship with her fiance Tom Holland, and her comments turned a few heads.
While Latonja had positive things to say about the Spider-Man actor, she couldn’t help but describe the pair as an “odd couple“. She said,
He’s down to earth and my family likes him. They just look like an odd couple because he’s so short and she’s so tall. But other than that, I think he’s the one for her
Despite the playful jab at their height difference, Latonja seemed to believe Zendaya and Holland make a good pair.
Latonja further added, that while Zendaya is “very active” in the lives of her other siblings’ children, she has no relationship with her own younger sister. This distance, paired with her concerns about potentially being excluded from Zendaya and Holland’s rumored upcoming wedding, has left Latonja feeling even more disconnected from her famous half-sister.
Despite the emotional distance and past struggles, Latonja still holds love for her sister, calling Zendaya “different” from the rest of the family and insisting she cares for her “no matter what.“
