I tried this moisturiser that has just been named the UK’s favourite – but is it worth the price?

TURN back the clock to 2013, when Charlotte Tilbury launched her first ever product, which sold out within hours and kick-started her iconic beauty brand.

The product in question was Magic Cream, a secretive and reportedly magic, face moisturiser promising firmer, dewy skin.

Drawing upon years of prepping supermodel’s complexions for catwalks, the cream is formulated with plumping peptides, brightening vitamin C, and hydrating hyaluronic acid.

The brand now sells one pot every minute and has been named the UK’s number-one prestige moisturiser.

Celebrities such as Kate Moss, Twiggy, and Lily James are reportedly fans, and the cream is often seen on dressing tables and in make-up kits at fashion weeks.

Its success is indisputable, but at £79 – which works out at £1.58 per ml – is it really worth the hype? Team Fabulous investigates…

The moisturiser works as a good primer for make-up[/caption]

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had an on/off relationship with Charlotte Magic Cream.

While I love its ability to instantly brighten my complexion – meaning it’s a brilliant make-up primer – it’s not hydrating enough for me to use as a standalone moisturiser.

While some people complain about its thick, stiff texture, I’m a fan, as it encourages you to thoroughly work it into your skin, leaving behind a sculpted complexion.

If it wasn’t for my recent eczema flare-up, it would still be a staple in my make-up bag, but sadly its dainty, powdery scent is a no-go for my sensitive skin.

Usually, I’m hesitant about trying new products because I have sensitive, acne-prone skin.

However, I’m pleased to say that Magic Cream didn’t cause any breakouts, leaving me thoroughly impressed.

The cream is rich with a velvety texture and has a light, refreshing floral scent.

Once applied, it blends into my skin seamlessly and absorbs quickly.

Over the course of a week, I’ve noticed my skin become significantly more hydrated, with a radiant, dewy glow.

I can’t wait to incorporate the Magic Cream into my daily routine!

On first application of the Magic Cream, it instantly hydrated my skin, and within a week I started to see my skin looking smoother and firmer.

The consistency is on the thicker side, which I usually prefer for my night-time routine, but the cream also makes for a great base underneath my make-up and added a whole new glow to my look.

I never have a dull skin moment now, thanks to this magic cream!

How To Save Money On Beauty Buys

IF your purse is feeling tighter than ever before and you’re looking to save cash on your make-up routine, have you ever thought of trying out beauty dupes?

Here are five of the best recommended beauty buys that are almost identical to the posh versions, but at a fraction of the price.

FACE BASE If you can’t afford Charlotte Tilbury’s £52 Magic Cream, why not try a dupe that costs just £5.49 from Superdrug?

TONE IT UP If Drunk  Elephant’s £62 Protini Cream is out of your price range, you’ll need to check out the new dupe in Home Bargains.

TINTING IT With Fenty’s game-changer skin tint costing £29, a popular supermarket’s affordable alternative might just be the thing for you.

GET COVERED At £29 for a Tarte concealer, the new Primark dupe is much more affordable at just £3.50.

SPRAY YAY For those wanting to smell fresh without the price tag, Aldi’s new Prada and Chloe perfume dupes cost a fraction of the price.

I love the richness of Magic Cream, which smells divine and feels very luxe.

After applying it twice a day for a few days, I noticed that my skin was plumper, dewier and looked fresher.

My skin can often feel dry after a day in the office air-con, but it didn’t with this moisturiser.

A big thumbs-up from me.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, £79

The last time I used Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream was close to a decade ago.

It’s the most requested products from my friends and sisters, but I’ve stayed well clear after it caused my acne to flare up when I was doing anything I could to get rid of the spots.

Now my acne is under control – I thought it was about time I gave the cream another go.

Rather than applying it straight on to my face, I warm it up between my hands and gently pat it into my skin so that it’s overloaded with product – and to my surprise (and delight) I’ve been using it for a few weeks without causing a single breakout!

My skin looks and feels hydrated, and it sits really well under make-up.

I hate to say it, but I’ve cheated myself out of a great moisturiser for far too long!
